    Yikes, that is classic.
As far as going thru sideways, no way, it's too long (length = wide 2-lane road with shoulders and dirt slope).
And it is south of Goldfield.

That is probably the one. I do not think it was used last year, I think the course stayed on the west side of the highway all the way up to Tonopah, I would have to check last years map. We only made it 114 miles last year, and the year before the race started in Alamo and the course never went through that area. I now there is one between Tonopah and Hawthorne that I went through in 2006, but that one was pretty big. Of course I was on a quad, not a wide truck!

Is there a way around for at least the pre run? My car is exactly 8 ft wide. If not I may have to bring a narrow spare.

Right before the underpass you are on a "main" road, then turn off into the wash that goes under the hwy, if you were to stay on the main road you would come out on the hwy less than a 1/4 mile north. You could then head south on the hwy and drop off the side of the road back into the wash. I would not recommend this during the race however.

Not good, I am more worried about the height, if there is a 4" whatever in the way we are gonna have a big ole dent in the top of the truck

Hey get two big jars of vaseline and smear it on the sides of the truck right before you get there,,,,,,,, it might make it slip through
