    JUMBOTRON @ Laughlin

Just wondering since no one has been talking about it, did any of you get a chance to see the footage from the JUMBOTRON in the infield at Laughlin? I was sitting there watching the footage on that thing instead of taking pictures like I was suppose to. IT WAS GREAT!!! Did anyone else get to see any footage? They had 3 different camera's: 1 at the first road crossing (Brian Collins and John Marking were clearing the road by a MILE), the 2nd was about a mile after the second road crossing, and the 3rd by the infield. I'll tell you what, this is the way to go, start putting blechers up at all the races, charge a little money ($10.00 tops) and I'd sit there almost all day. I think just for the state races cause i enjoy finding a spot in Mexico...........What do you think?

    "Sal-Vision" was excellent!

A great addition to this event.

Didn't the CoC pay for that? They were doing a survey asking about the folks who were there watching the race and the girls said the CoC paid for it and wanted to know if more folks would pay to watch if there were more "trons next year.

I guess it's cool if you're sitting in the infield. I didn't watch it cause we weren't in the infield at all. But to me you might as well stay home and wait to see the race on OLN because it seems like you drove all the way out to Laughlin just to watch TV. I go to a dezert race because I love the dezert, and that's where I want to be is in the dezert, and that's where we were and I couldn't have asked for a better place to watch or a better show by the race cars. I have to admit, the leap is awesome to watch. But that's really all the infield is to me, just a man made jump and a couple of turns. Where as in the dezert you can see the literally flying through the woops and just flat out hauling ass through the natural terrain. Please understand I am NOT critiscizing (sp?) ANYONE for watching the infield or the Jumbotron, I am just telling the reason I go to the races, and also stating my opinion. But hey, if you don't want to get dirty and stinky like us ( lol) out there, then go to the stands, more power to ya I say!!

Rory, I agree. This sport needs jumbo TV's. I also think it needs grandstands and a concession area at more races. Think about the average Joe, or potential sponsor, if there was a place for them to sit and watch the race, grab a bite to eat or go to the bathroom all in the same place the sport will grow. Look at the Long Beach Grand Prix 100,000 people all paying to watch the race from a grandstand seat for a few seconds each lap, but they can follow the rest of the race on the jumbo TV's. How about moving the pit area so it can be seen from the grandstands?

Better Idea!!!!! Why not have 3 or 4 cameras set out there piped to say, the ChooChoo bar? YOu want Psonsors happy? Think like big sports do...Sky Boxes, Suites, etc... YOu want to make a sponsor happy and have him bring MORE potential sponsors to the races for exposure...have something set up where the suits don't have to get dirty and sweaty or freeze their butts off while enjoying seeing their "sponsors dollars" at work. Fans will always brave the elements, but big money expects more than a warm beer and cold hamburger from the team they foot the bills for. If they can pipe TV to the jumbotron in the infield, they sure as hell can plumb it to banquet room at one fo teh Casinos, and who knows how many other "potential fans, sponsors, and other supporters might just be passing by and become intrigued with the idea of getting involved?

It was great for us sitting on the hill. Couldn't see the cars land after the leap. Good one.

    Re: JUMBOTRON @ Laughlin

I was in the infield all day sat. shooting the leap so I got to check it out.
In my opinion the Jumbo-tron was great. No glare at all, & camera placement was really good. Not a lot of action but they could pan really far to follow the vehicles for a long time. It appears that they actually did some research as far as wear to place the cameras.
I think they were still kind of working out the bugs though. A couple times it went blank for a minute or two, and when they tried to play jump contest/ pit crew challenge footage during the intermissions they were having difficulties finding the correct icon to chose.

But all in all it was awesome.

    Re: JUMBOTRON @ Laughlin

Something else that would be cool to add to the Jumbotron would be feeds from the Helis. I know heli shots look awesome at rally races, and I'm sure they would get some killer shots. Especially one that was following the leaders.
