Camshaft + head work + a professional computer tune, and i am not talking about hypertech or superchips.
Contact these companies:
http://www.nelsonperformance.com/form.htm
http://www.gowheatley.com/
http://www.blackbearperformance.com/
http://www.pcmforless.com/
those companies will be able to better tune, and get more performance from your truck then a off the shelf hand held programmer will.

Proper ring and pinion ratio will make a huge difference by putting the power band where you need it to match your tire size to the truck!

i would look into getting bigger injectors because you got a bigger throttle body and usually you need to upgrade your injectors due to more air going to your engine, and you need make sure your engine is getting its right air/fuel mixture. you could check that with some scan tools. But like Chris Tobin said it would be best if you changed your gears to the right size for the rims and tires you are running. Alot of things could come it to play just to keep your stock hp. The 5.3 is a good platform. I got a 2001 silverado. Whats yours in?

ya vortec....lol but I agree with everyone. I have the 5.3 in my truck. dynatech headers and cat, and then magnaflow after the cats, trueflow intake, a tune from a shop in tempe, AZ. NOne of this hypertech computer program stuff. People think its cool, but how can everyone's truck be the exact same, and the chips work for every one. A custom computer tune, especially if they dyno it to do so, is the best route. If you want to get real crazy, throw in a 6.0L get full exhaust, tune, intake, cam, and go from there.

With a true computer tune (not a hypertech/superchips tune), larger injectors are not required. The stock injectors are capable of supporting the engine.
