Andrew,
When I sold my old class 8 two years ago, (the truck in my avatar) I sold it without the engine. I will use that engine in this truck. It is a small-block Chevy 400 CI, with the stock stroke and bore (for reliability). I think it was around 12 to 1 compression, and has Pontiac aluminium heads. The last time on the dyno, it recorded about 670 HP, and about the same in torque.
I will also be using an Art Carr turbo 400 transmission. I am a big fan, a long-time customer, (and sometimes sponsored) of Art Carr transmissions.

Re: New Doherty Motorsports class 8
Been a busy summer. Snowflake, Primm, Off Road Expo, and running the family plumbing shop. But I have been trying to spend a few hours every night (OK, just a few nights a week), out in my shop. Attached photo's of the rear frame boxing (to hold the weight of the 75 gal cell), and the fuel cell mounting with skid plate.

Re: New Doherty Motorsports class 8
Hey Mike I've been following you on your build here through the summer and all. Very nice truck you are building, but I've got to throw this at you and ask if you might know of someone that might be interested in a Class 8 truck that is currently being built. Fantalli Motorsports out of Ramona is the builder. Unfortunately I need to sell this as soon as possible. Here in the next day or two I will be posting pictures and a full discription of what the truck has in it so far. Keep in mind this is a new build. Thanks Marc.

At one time or another, I have been a member of SCORE, BITD, SNORE, CODE, FUD, MTEG, The (old) Mint 400, WHIPLASH, GRR, HDRA, ADRA, and even raced class 8 in a SCCA rally! And I've been to the Sand Drags at Gordons Well (Yuma) a few times.
In general, we usually enter which-ever event we think will be a fun race.

Updated photo's. Got to work in the shop for a few hours this weekend. Every time I turn around, I have to weld a new tube in somewhere ! I got a few tabs welded today, and got most of the body panels permanantly mounted, and ready for fiberglass repairs. I hope this new truck, doesnt end up weighing more than the old one. Much work left, but I thought I'd bump this, to shop that Im still working on it !
