When do you say something about cheating?
At a recient night race I caught a buggy cutting across a valley and shortening his course. about 1/3 of a mile . I was busy with our own problems with our truck so I didnt run down and crie fowel ,I didnt hang around in the morning to go to the award ceramony. so I emailed the pics to the officials at the sactioning body. They agried the car cut the course and thus cheated. because it was after the ceramony there isnt much they can do .? . They forwarded the pics to the DOR with a letter of repramand. They say they did. Should they dock his time on the next race , Ironicaly his time shows he would have won anyway. Im not here to start a fight, I just want to do the right thing. And one more thing . Why cheat .?. its a race so run it right and win fair and square.....................

It's not cheating it's knowing the course

Re: When do you say something about cheating?
If the promoter would get transponders it would help this problem out alot. Random check points that nobody knows about can be set up and if you miss an area there is a check point in it show immediatly. If your referring to Barstow what is a cheat line and a race line at this point?? In my opinion if you feel someone cheated and you would like to address the problem it needs to be during or right after the event.( I believe the SCORE rule book says it must be within an hour of the competion of the race)
Damn I love class WHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No that f-n cheating, if you have a line thats smoother through the bushes that doesnt cut the actual course that is "knowing" the course, learned from pre-running and general knowledge of terrain. Cutting of a 1/3 of a mile could mean tens of seconds off your time (depending on how rough).

No, that's not knowing the friggen course. We need to curb the course cutting. IRC units have failed on me, and it burns me when they fail and still we have to pay hundreds of dollars for it anyway. Another guy on our team had a good idea---why not offer a reward to anybody with proof (video or pics) of somebody cheating? Make em turn it in at the end of the race and get their $100! Then DQ the cheater before the ceremony. What do you guys think of that?

I hate cheating on all levels....and it's very frustrating to me to see it occur in just about every race/every series I run in.....I DON'T understand why people can't just pit themselves and their vehicles against their competition in a FAIR manner, and enjoy the race and the FAIR competition. How can you enjoy a win, or a position gained if you know you had to cheat to do it??? I'm not speaking on this particular incident - it's just been a topic of conversation at my house for the last couple of days and it really gets to me....

People that cheat don't see it that way. They believe their own lies.

This thread reminded me of this.
In the end your only cheating yourself imo.
