V2R GPS Download
PCI's GPS Download is available via email or you can come get it loaded into your GPS at contingency, Thursday at South Point. It has the course changes, danger markers, detailed notes, pits, road crossings, etc. Give me a call or email and we will get it out to you!
If you already purchased the download, we have an updated download today with the course changes, I will be resending to everyone right now. You can also get your GPS updated at tech.
As of noon on Monday, THE LOWRANCE FILE ON BITD'S WEBSITE WILL NOT LOAD ON A LOWRANCE GPS!!! It is too large and will either not load, or will load and give you errors during the ENTIRE race. I notified Diane and we're working to help them fix it so they can provide the course for you. If you downloaded that file, please do not load it into your GPS. If you have already, delete all waypoints, trails and icons and await the corrected file. Let me know if you need any help doing this.
We will be open at 8am on Thursday at South Point, give us a call if you need anything (we will be there Wed eve for anything urgent as well).
Good luck everyone, hope to see you at the finish line!!!

Rhiannon, if we use your download, can we overlay our download on top of yours?

You need to make sure the file won't be too large. The first thing you should do is make sure you have ONLY what you want to keep on your GPS. Then, go to Menu, Menu, System Setup, transfer my data, SAVE. This will save everything on your GPS. As long as what you have is less than 150kb when you save it, it should be able to work with our download just fine. (The max these things can take is about 420-450kb, depending on if the majority of the file size is from WPT's or trails)
The BITD course is 530kb, so it is giving errors to delete information, but even with just the trails, it is still too large.
Give me a call if you need help going through this stuff.
Also, I forgot to mention the PCI download is $50.

Re: V2R GPS Download
Did BITD remove the file from their site? I can't find it. I am just loading it on my handheld and can filter points out so size isn't a big deal.

It's still there, but the information on the website is incorrect. The trails are just too big. When prerunning, make sure you guys aren't changing the trail update time from Automatic. They have 12 trails for the course, all at almost 10,000 points each. There is no way to delete or filter out some of the points, you would need to delete an entire chunk of the trail altogether. EVEN IF YOU ARE ABLE TO LOAD THE COURSE, it will be seconds before you get alarms and errors that will stick with you the entire race "Data Storage Low, delete trails, waypoints and icons" It's hard enough to press exit while racing!!!
If you want to use the BITD provided trail, I would pick a section that you know very well and don't need. Then delete it from the GPS chip. In addition, delete all the mile markers (you can keep every 5 miles if you like, won't take too much room, but delete the other 360 waypoints.)
Call me if you have any questions!

Re: V2R GPS Download
Rhiannon I really like the file. This one gives a lot more details about what's coming up. The Baja 500 download was good and all, but the skull and crossbones didn't specify what the danger was. This one says "hard G out", Big dip", "rock on right" and stuff like that so you know what to look for. Good job by you and Scott and everybody in making it.

Re: V2R GPS Download
I think my older Mozilla browser at home was having issues. I couldn't see the bottom menu items. Found it no problem from work.
I just need the gpx file for my garmin handheld. I download it for every race I chase. Never needed it yet, but you never know. They'll be getting the one for the car from PCI.
Thanks.
