    Quick question on car alarms

I am looking for a certain type of car alarm. Not they type that everyone has, where you get the key FOB. I am looking to install a system that uses a chip. Kind of like the "PATS" system used in F150's. I cant think of what it is called for the life of me, and have not been able to find any online yet. Anyone know what I am talking about? Can you help me with a company name or a place that sells them?

it's a ""immobilier" that hangs on your keychain, and yes, I am still looking for one.

Most car alarms out there are poorly made and don't stand up to a pre-runner type of beating. Even worse is the ex-tweeker using Vampire taps to install it. These will cut a wire in half eventually. Unless you can get one that plugs into the factory harness, I would give it a pass.

ohhh.. that kind. That kind is old school and VERY easy to bypass. Just FYI.

Yea, i realize about a weary install person. that's why I will be installing it myself. What i failed to mention, I worked for Ford Motor company as a tech for 5+ years, and used to make some good money on those horrific wiring disasters. so no one else works on my vehicle. So, i can reproduce the types of splices and harnesses that will appear factory inside of my truck, especially since i have rolls upon rolls of wiring tape from the factory. Thank you 02E15 recall!

Just like business, location, location, location. it will be completely incognito

The newer ones that come from the factory are a bit more difficult to bypass than the old school ones as the work alongside the OBD computer. Just remember that no anit-theft device will stop a professional thief from taking your car. They just make it more difficult and detour the unskilled.
