A typical wheelbase for a vw desertracer,, buggy or bug, just to get an idea of how much longer than a stock vw they are,,

That is based on what class the car is. Off the top of my head the class 11 and 5 cars are stock. Class 9 is 100" and I think the 5 open is 105". I think the class 12 is in the 110-112" area. I am not sure on this but I believe class 10 and 1 are open wheelbase.
You can get the exact number in the SCORE rulebook and these may not be right but should be close. I am just doing this off the top off my head.

ok,, thanx..
BITD has Class 5000 (open) at 107". Class 5100 at Any Stock Production length. SNORE 5/1600 class also states Any Production Length. Stock Production Length examples would be 94" for a 1966 all the way to 99" for a 2003.
SCORE limits 5 open wheelbase to 105"
On the a-arm baja I'm building (not to be raced) I'm going 110" wheelbase. Would go more, but it's going to be streeted, and I'd like for it to look somewhat normal.
Hope is the first step on the road of disappointment
