how much of an advantage do single seat 1600 have over two seat
I was at the more race and the top three 16 cars were single seats. I also saw the difference in restricter plates between the two. Seems the single seat cars have more of an advantage. What is everyone's thought on this. Especially in the shorter loop races.

you dont think the weight advantage is a big thing to consider? and center of gravity is centered down the middle more. the results seem to show single seat cars win more.

I would think it depends on the size of the codriver

Not to be offtopic, but Im interested in this as well, except with the 9 cars. The single seat cars are supposed to be 200 pounds heavier, so if a two seat car had a light codriver, theyd have an advantage, but the SS cars always seem to be up front.

The problem with most 2 seat cars is they seem to build them 100 pounds to heavy. If you build a 2 seater on the weight limit and have a lite co dog I think the advantage goes to 2 seaters as you have help with GPS and changing tires. I had a 2 seater right on the weight limit and I think I liked it the best.

I don't know much about the 1600 class, just from what one of the guys at the shop and a couple volunteers think cause they race them, the single seats seem to win more often, but by all rights in my opinion, if done right, like cheater says, the 2 seater would have the best handling characteristics of either choice, wider, more power, (maybe not power to weight all the time), but the more weight does play in the favor of the 2 seater dynamically over uneven terrain I would assume?

Re: how much of an advantage do single seat 1600 have over two seat
Dan my 2 seater weighs exactly what my single seat-er weighs, I can say for sure my 2 seat car is faster now with all the up to date stuff on it. Get a plazma cutter and start removing big stuff from your 2 seat er. Seat of the pants, threw the gears you can feel the difference between my cars, the get up and go is noticable. Thats the great thing about 1600 Race-co 2 seaters, it is extreamly easy to put it on the start line 2-3 pounds over the limit, weighing less than a lot of single seat cars because they were weighing in at about 1365 when there was a 2 seat weight limmit of 1350. I know mine did, and the other Race-co 2 seater that I had before this one, weighed 1376 when PAB and I raced a Mint 400, they made me drain the tank before the race at teck. That car nearly broke in half that race, 1 main rail was holding the car together, as it was the first of Race-cos new desing car which to me sucked compaired to the old commin Race-co like mine is now, that you rode in Dan. PAB remember that, it broke the frame everywere.

How could I forget Dave! So many good times.......
One REALLY GOOD reason a 2 seater is better than 1.......Hard as F to flip the thing back on its wheels solo! Admit you have to drive 'em to the edge at times and these things happen....
I have flipped 4 times in all my years of 1600 racing....once with Robby Hendrickson and once with Cody in Daves car. One racing and one testing and someone flipped Cody and I over. Once with Bean when we locked wheels while passing a tool in the SF whoops and he swerved into us. One time in Poptarts car and I was solo, sucked and then the motor got sanded.
