Where is Dick Landsfield Now?
Was watching my favorite offroad film "Drive Like Hell" last night and was wondering what happened to Dick Landsfield? What industry was he in before? Also what happened to Dave Ashley/Dan Smith? I know last I heard they were pushing their Baja product line for production trucks. Any new info?

Last I heard Dick was the owner of Fairway Ford in Yorbalinda/Fullerton area... His son is Bruce who use to race a 7's truck and use to run Roll-A-Long conversions.

Re: Where is Dick Landsfield Now?
I seem to recall a Dick Lansfield fielding an A/FX drag car back in the early days of funnycars. Maybe a SOHC 427 'stang?
Hey! You kids!! Get OFF my driveway!!! If you can't go away happy, just go away!

Re: Where is Dick Landsfield Now?
My dad talked with him a couple weekends ago at the Off-Road Hall of Fame induction after Vegas to Reno, he said everything was good! I also still believe he does own Fairway/Fairview Ford...

I saw Mr. Landfield about two weeks ago at Dave Simpson's (Pro Comp) wedding reception. He looks great!

From what Bruce (his son) told me he is enjoying his boat fishing, and he does still own the ford dealerships...............

I also forgot to add that Dick is a legend in our sport, and has done more then most will ever imagine for our sport. He also is a great guy, I delt with him quit a bit when I bought 2 of his old duralast chase trucks, he always helped me out with part for them, and any service we might have needed at the dealership.........

Dick Landfield aka "The Boston Stangler". LOL!
Back in the early to mid 80's myself, Dick, and another crew member were walking through the pits at Parker when Dick's 7s truck goes by with Ashley at the wheel. This guy walking along the course picks up a rock and throws it at Ashley as he goes by. Dick goes nuts and charges the guy and grabs him by the throat with both hands. The next thing I know Dick has him pinned down on the hood of someones car and he's choking him out. The guys face is starting to turn purple and me and the other crew member calm Dick down and he lets the guy go.
Damn, those were fun times and after that episode we affectionately named him "The Boston Strangler".
Dick Landfield has always been a stand up guy who this sport ows major cudos to for everything he has done. I spoke to him a couple of months ago and he's doing just great and enjoying life.
Ashley and Smith call the shop here sometimes a couple of times a month and they are very busy enjoying life without race cars.

I can't imagine life without racecars. Those guys raced for 20 some odd years, how could they just throw in the towel? My dad called Dave and asked him to drive with us at the 1000 last year. He said he was interested, but wasn't quite sure he would be able to.
I would love to see those 2 back in desert racing. Two of the fastest guys out there that's for sure!!!
