Cam lock harnesses legal?
I prefer the cam lock over the latch style but I'm wondering if they are legal for Score and BITD? Can anyone confirm for me? Thanks

Reason being, cam-lock mechanisms don't like dust and dirt...the get all jammed up...

I heard Larry Ragland was trapped in his Trophy Truck at the finish line once due to the belts not un buckling with the cam lock. Good thing there was not a fire!!!
Yes, cam locks are for pavement, latch for the dirt

interesting. It would suck to be trapped in your truck while there's a huge fire going on.

Re: Cam lock harnesses legal?
On this note, a little bird told me that Savage is going to start requiring a new style harness where the left lapbelt and left shoulder harness terminate in one buckle, and the right lapbelt/harness terminate in the other buckle. The crotch strap will be unchanged. Alan Roach has this setup in his class 1. The reason being is that with this setup you cannot get in and simply buckle the lap belts together and leave the shoulder harnesses dangling. It is much simpler to get buckled in with this setup BTW.

Re: Cam lock harnesses legal?
i've seen each side welded together so it's a quick in/out. a little zip zip holds them in place.

These are what I'm talking about. Simpson makes 'em. Waaay easier to get buckled back in safely.

Re: Cam lock harnesses legal?
Be sure to check for SFI approval on the sewn in harnesses before giving up your $$. I sell the PRP belts and they are great for trail riding and everyday use but they are not yet SFI rated.
