The VEBK was the fastest both times out – It only ran twice thanks to all the crybabies and in both instances it did not get to race. Certainly your numbers in the post you reference speak volumes as to the Karts abilities. You are quick to give much of the credit to Quentin Tucker, who by the way I agree is a great driver but Joey ran just as fast in the same kart. It is like I said, it is a great Kart regardless of driver. This post and the theme of most of these posts was not to taught the drivers but to go over the plus’s and minus’s of the EBK vs. the TK and what turned into a comparo of the Elite vs. the VEBK.

Practice session from a shortened Chula Vista? Perhaps for you but Kart 597 Tucker/Granatelli was never at Chula Vista – the reason we got thrown into the “practice session” was due to all the delays based on the controversy surrounding the VEBK. It was approved, then not approved – blah blah blah. Basically it was legal and race ready until it showed up at the track then when a few of the more competitive teams saw the kart they got …you pick the fraze…I chose nervous. You lost me on the “other then that” comment. What other then that? Perhaps you don’t know or recall the back ground. As soon as the VEBK was unloaded and the complaints started about the u-joint vs. CV vs. plunging axle vs. solid axle and so on We were told as a precaution we had to add 50 lbs to the Kart. That is 50 lbs over what any other 450 had to carry. Again before the kart made 1 lap it was already getting penalized – seems fair to most of you guys I am sure but not to the unbiased and certainly not to Bob G from Extreme Baja Kart who busted his but to build a kart that fit the rules only to be told the other Soccer Moms were in an uproar over it (again before ever seeming it run)

Lets be perfectly clear – Lee Perfect cringed every time he saw us in tech. I bent and stretched the rules as much as the rest of the “winners” Drilling holes in the carb, fans on the belt, 7” clutch, ice on the gas tank, etc. But in every case while he was yelling at me for my actions he kept his word and secretly applauded our efforts. The only thing he could not stop was the lynch mob of soccer moms that mocked what they did not understand (that being the J1/J2 and modified EBKs) So I respectfully must disagree with your statements. The VEBK was the baddest and fastest kart at both events. Imagine the displeasure CORR must have felt when they strapped a 50 lbs anchor on us and we still managed to be over a second faster then the rest.

So let me break it down – without ever seeing the Mod Extreme Baja Kart run (aka VEBK) we got hit with a 6% weight penalty for our troubles. In Indy Car a team would pay millions to shave 50 lbs off a 1350lb car. In Pro Stock NHRA racing 50 lbs on a car that weighs 2350 would slow you down by as much as .05 seconds in 1320 feet. If you decided, lets put a 6% weight penalty on an Indy car or NHRA Pro Stock car that would be like going from 2350 to 2491 lbs. or slowing the car down by .141 seconds. What is hard to explain and calculate is moving the mass. Making us carry the extra 50lbs was plain unfair. Carrying the extra 50 and still going 1.142 seconds faster per lap just showed the writing on the wall and was a picture of things to come.

Maybe we should all just show up at a practice day just to see which style kart really is superior??? HRT, Newline, Homebrew ELITE, etc... I think your kart and ours have the same engine, so that shouldn't be an excuse! ...
No Question as technology progresses, so does the speed of the karts and ability of the drivers. I never questioned that.
I agree, it is too bad the Soccer Moms got LOORS to band the EBK and VEBK. Sadly LOORS convinced Ken to follow suit so the Karts are not legal there either. As for Publicly stating that it’s fast, IT WAS FAST – THE FASTEST both times. If you are now stating “The karts have gotten faster since then too” you want to compare the Mod Karts of TODAY vs. our VEBK from last year then ya, you are probably right, it took everyone else near a year to catch up. I looked at all the Karts at the last LOORS race and like I said regardless of how this thread started - The EBK made mintsmeat out of the TK in 2008. It was 1 against a billion Soccer Moms - The writing is on the wall for 2009 as well. The TK may have started the battle but it is loosing just about every war The HRT looks great as does the other one that Sheldon drives.

To all – this is supposed to be fun – cool your jets. Life is good why complicate it with stress and turmoil. If you don’t like what I have to say, then ignore me. Naturally I am gonna push my own stuff. Since we are trying to sell all our Kart stuff I am going to say verbiage like “the best” and “none finer”

If I said the Ford Mustang is the best bang for the buck that would be my opinion. That does not mean I want to fight on the net or face to face because someone is a Chevy Camaro guy and Dodge Challenger fan. One should not immediately take offence to general and broad statements. I agree I got protective when “Mod EBK” was accused of cheating – because I am the owner to the EBK in question. It only seemed natural that we would be accused of cheating since we were 50 lbs heavier then the filed and still over a second faster. Since they were never able to actually tear the Mods down at the track they just accused us of running the wrong fuel. After the race the Kart was torn down to the frame and reinspected by the then CORR staff including the motor and again it was deemed legal until this year (season) when it started all over.

So who has the bad Mod on any given day? You guys and Soccer Moms can debate it. We don’t race anymore in the Kart section so stepping backwards would prove fruitless.

If anyone wants to find out they can buy the kart and do with it as they may

Re: Extreme Baja Kart vs. Trophy Kart

The amount of drama circling all these posts just amazes me. You guys win – say what you want and do what you want.

If I offended anyone because I quoted their words only to find out they were not directing their comments at Granatelli when they said the “EBK’s were cheating” (understanding we were the only EBK that was even remotely close to contending) then I accept your apology and clarification – Likewise accept mine. If anyone really cares about any of this just read the entire 18 pages as I did last night.

Perspective – what is perspective? one's "point of view", the choice of a context for opinions, beliefs and experiences or in other words – after you are all calm, read what you all said, then and only then decide what is wrong from right.

After you get “Perspective” then comment. This is my last post so take as many shots as you want.

PS – all my words address accusations against Team Granatelli/EBK as it relates to the 2008 Season. If you did not build a kart or race until the 2009 LOORS season – then do not be offended

Re: Extreme Baja Kart vs. Trophy Kart

    Joe,

You are the one stirring the "soccer mom" pot... I just kindly pointed out that your VEBK was NEVER the fastest kart on the track, except for one practice session that only included a few other karts. The faster drivers were in a Re-race that Friday at Pomona. Only those of us that weren't part of the Red flag shortened race in Chula Vista were in that practice. Conner, Parker, Mitchell, Sheldon, etc. were all in the Re-race.

Look at the lap times on Mylaps.com for ANY other race, heat, practice, or qualifying round and you will see that your kart, regardless of driver, was not the fastest! Maybe it could be the fastest, and I definitely wish it was still out racing with the class, but there is no way you can say it's the fastest unless you can back it up with lap times!

DIFFERENT WAYS OF LOOKING AT THINGS

Two guys were discussing popular family trends on sex, marriage, and family values.
Bill said, 'I didn't sleep with my wife before we got married, did you?'
Larry replied, 'I'm not sure, what was her maiden name?'

So here we see the same question with multiple views and understandings

    ---------------------------------------------------------
A little boy went up to his father and asked: 'Dad, where did my intelligence come from?'
The father replied. 'Well, son, you must have got it from your mother, cause I still have mine.'

    Sarcasim---------------------------------------------------------
'Mr. Clark, I have reviewed this case very carefully,' said the divorce Court
Judge, 'And I've decided to give your wife $775 a week,'
'That's very fair, your honor,' the husband said. 'And every now and
then I'll try to send her a few bucks myself.'

    Only in our dreams---------------------------------------------------------

A doctor examining a woman who had been rushed to the Emergency Room, took
the husband aside, and said, 'I don't like the looks of your wife at all.'
'Me neither doc,' said the husband.
'But she's a great cook and really good with the kids.'

    Perspective-----------------------------------------------------------
An old man goes to the Wizard to ask him if he can remove a curse he has
been living with for the last 40 years.
The Wizard says, 'Maybe, but you will have to tell me the exact words that
were used to put the curse on you.'
The old man says without hesitation, 'I now pronounce you man and wife.'

Just thought I would add this one----------------------------------------------------------

A blonde calls Delta Airlines and asks, 'Can you tell me how long it'll take
to fly from San Francisco to New York City ?'
The agent replies, 'Just a minute.'
'Thank you,' the blonde says, and hangs up.

Sometimes we need to understand our question before we ask and more importantly we need to listen to the answers completely before we ASS-U-ME----------------------------------------------------------

The graveside service just barely finished, when there was a massive
clap of thunder, followed by a tremendous bolt of lightning, accompanied by even more thunder rumbling in the distance.
The little old man looked at the pastor and calmly said, 'Well, she's there.'

    Happy Ending

So in closing - 50 lbs heavier then the rest and still faster then them all - For the record both Zane and Quentin were faster then the others in the other race - the ones you call "those that weren't part of the Red flag shortened race in Chula Vista". After all that you still missed the point - I agree the time slips told the story.

    Joe,

These are the only sessions that I could find on Mylaps.com where your kart was on the track. Check them out and come back to me with who was the fastest...

Maybe they will allow the EBK's to run this year and we will find out once and for all?It seems that there will always be the "my truck is better than yours" so there is only one way to solve it and that is to let them race and lets see?I think they should allow them to race, the trophy karts way out number the EBK karts, but I do agree that you guys couldn't of thought that the trophy karts were going to be dominant forever?People are going to come up with new designs and better designs thats just the nature of the sport....

Thats for the positive post!!! It sounds like Parker had a great time and did some shredding even with a broken left arm at least his shifter arm works. Thanks for the pictures and video. More pics and video please. I put a couple of your videos together with some pics and my limited video skills.

    Thanks Bob

    Hey Bob (Gootjr),

Thanks for posting up the video! It's always fun to see kids mobbing around in the karts.
