    LS1/2/6 onto BOP Pattern TH400

    Hi guys,
We run a 1971 Pontiac block in our Venom race truck in the UK because it was cheap when I bought it in 2000, we've since spent alot on it upgrading and improving over the years, and it's been bullet proof while we've had cooling problems, etc. However, I'm now looking at upgrading/updating to an LS1/2/6 motor and am expexting to have to make an adapter plate for it to fit the Buick/Olds/Pontiac pattern bellhousing on our TH400. I'm keen to keep the tranny because it's had alot of work and is fitted with a reverse pattern manual valve body with compression braking and I had a drive flange made to accept the 1410 joints we use on the propshafts (driveshafts to you guys!). I also have a prepped spare tranny but without compression braking. Does anyone know of a conversion by any chance, or should I bite the bullet and swap to a different casing?

Bite the bullet, and change the case. They are a direct bolt up with only a modification to the spiggot on the convertor required. This is a very common set up in Australia.

You can buy a standard chevy pattern bellhousing for it that bolts to the front pump. You do have to cut the old bellhousing off since it doesn't unbolt. It's also SFI approved.

Worksauto - thanks for that! I thought that may be the way to go. Interesting what you say about it being a common set up in Australia as we may be heading out there!
Philofab - thanks for your input yet again! In fact that bellhousing ticks many boxes for me and may be the way to go. We're hoping to be in Lake Havasu in June meeting some contacts - is that close to you? Bullhead seems familiar from when we were at Laughlin 07!
