Just to make sure the RDC rumor mill doesnt spin out of control...yes, I have invited Mr. Despain to join us in Baja to host the Wide Open Challenge kick-off party and to do some prerunning with us on Thursday. We hope to make him an official race entrant with Wide Open in 2009...

My favorite Dave Despain video is the opening to the Baja 500. Standing course side talking about the TT's and the race, and timing it perfectly to have Simon & Simon blow by at 100+!!! Gave me goose bumps then, and now.

I'm bummed I missed the piece. Hopefully it represented off-road racing in a good light. I'm down here in Mexico, and it's a bit tough to find SPEED on tv.

Despain did a nice job of letting people know about the race and it yes it represented desert racing positively. Plus having Danny Sullivan on showed the pavement racers that this is a very cool, but serious business. Good stuff!
