can you sew a torn fire suit?

I tore my race suit last year. It is about a 2" rip. Can it be sewn and still be legal? Does it neet to be special thread if so?

I would guess that a good repair with nomex thread would be as good as new.

anyone that sews with nomex and is willing to repair it.
might want to contact the manuf and see if they will or not. how old is it? that might come into play.
