Re: just found this...
You've got to be kidding me! At what point does everybody decide that they (new promoters) are all tired of splitting a nickel too many different ways?

Re: just found this...
is this true?
Here is everything I know, there is supposed to be an official announcement on Wednesday the 10th.
Tony V, formerly with CORR, has started a new series.
The series will run at 3 tracks, Primm Nevada, Firebird Raceway, and Del Mar CA.
I didn't hear how many events, but I would guess 6.
The series will run like CORR in terms of format and classes, and will use the same rules that CORR used in 08.
The series has Speed Channel TV coverage, for all classes. However, there are no details as to how the coverage will be broken between classes.
There are some major sponsors on board already, unfortunately I didn't catch their names.
This is great news!!! We have somewhere to compete in 09! And, I am pumped that the series will hit 3 major hubs, San Diego, Phoenix, and las Vegas.

that's the quote off the other site, not pacwest's comments
i heard about this a few days ago and its bad news for all of us, brian is right, you can't split the teams more than they already are. Tony and the other parties involved should know this.
TORC Pro-4 coming soon!
(Not sure what i was thinking when i purchased Greaves truck)

Re: just found this...
What are the west coast teams split between now ? nothing & no announcement ?
What about your statement in the other thread ?
"and that is why '09 is nothing more than a dream for the last 2 CORR employees. everyone else needs to focus on building up alternative places to race and continuing the growth we've seen in off road. stay focused and lets keep making this thing grow."

EXACTLY!!
And if there is any truth to this that a new series is starting up on the westcoast, That would be great news!
Hoeker you said that would be bad news for all of us? Are you kidding me! Anything that has the potential to keep short course racing alive and moving forward is HUGE! Hoeker once again you speak before you think!
Right now with RJ's Program moving forward and other things that are Brewing, I think this is Pretty good news right now.
Considering we should all right now be at C.V. getting ready to watch the Jason Baldwin cup!

Re: just found this...
Let's see...
2005=no West Coast short course racing to speak of = 0 races
2006= CORR comes to town = 1 sanctioning body
2007= CORR still only game in town= 1 sanctioning body
2008= CORR + M4SX + RJORGP = 2 sanctioning bodies and 1 seperate race
2009= M4SX + Glen Helen + RJORGP + Tony Vanillo's dream = 4 sanctioning bodies + CORR if they pull of a miracle!
People already complain of events that conflict! That was with only 1 or two sanctioning bodies, now add two more to the mix... They all will suffer! It makes it nice for someone who wants to pick and choose where they go to race... It also makes it hard to get a decent CROWD at ANY of the events! If the racers want to support the sport via relatively high entry fees, then the crowd doesn't matter. THE CROWD DOES MATTER TO A RACER TRYING TO FUND THE RACING WITH SPONSOR'S MONEY! Without decent crowds, all you will have is SPORTSMAN level racing not full time racers.
In the end, IF CORR somehow makes a return, Tony and RJ's events will suffer. M4SX and Glen Helen are catering to a different crowd than either CORR, Tony, or RJ, so they have a decent chance at succeeding even if CORR returns.
I guess we will have to wait and see how it all turns out!

Off road racing never ceased moving forward. Its going stronger than ever here in the midwest. WSORR is doing incredible. We are looking at record numbers next year and out west you dont even know if youll have a series to race in.
Im pretty sure you spoke before thinking.
actually scratch that, I know you spoke before thinking

Re: just found this...
Circle track here in the midwest works because there is a local level. There are competing sanctioning bodies (IMCA, WISSOTA, USRA, NASCAR, etc..) and they all seem to co-exist, but its at a more affordable weekly local racing level. I would love to see multiple series work, but they all cant be the top of the line, expensive, touring series with tv and everything else. You still need the big touring series', but if they could have some at a local, set track, weekly level, and draw a regular weekly crowd, I think it could realy grow the sport. IDK, mabey thats what Glen Helen is trying to establish. But just think if off road could run like dirt oval racing - you have your weekly events, plus the big touring events when they stop at your weekly track. I used to run dirt oval, from April to October, 3 nights a week plus specials. just think of doing that in off road. Definatly get your racing fix.
Thanks for all the support in 2008.
