I agree. No offense, but this is why I don't own an SC8. If I had the option of going either electric or nitro for about the same price. I would have had one of the first ones out. We have 2 SC8's and about 6 slashes here at the shop. The SC8's got broken in, and have sat on the shelves since. The Slashes, on the other hand, have been run weekly since they were released. Long before the SC8.

So it faster on the bottom, and the same on the top. Which translates into likely faster around a track. Especially a Short Course track.

Electric is the wave of the future embrace it or be left in the slimy nitro mess.

So you think the slash is the way to go? In your opinion is the sc8 worth the 700 bux, or a slash w/motor and battery upgrade be just as fun?

I own both, since buying the SC8 I have not touched my slash. 4wd vs. 2wd! I really love both of them, just have way more fun with the SC8. You can put all the power you want to the Slash and still have a 2wd that you cant keep straight unless conditions are perfect. I went all the way back to a stock motor with a 8 cell and gears to actually have fun with it. The SC8 on the other hand is stock other than a second set of 1/8th scale buggy tires for short courses, and it's plenty. I'm able to run all of the truggy's and most of the buggies with it the way it sits. Just my 2 cents~

Branden. When is the AE Electric conversion with delrin spur gear gonna be available. Im holding off on my sc8 purchase until then. Electric is the only way to go.

If you are new to R/C cars and specifically nitro I'd say yes the Slash is more user friendly.

If you want the performance advantage of 4wd, don't mind learning to tune it, and cost is not a factor then I'd try the SC8.

The slash is a great truck if your just playing around. There also alot of fun to race in a spec class. I have been an associated guy since age 4. I had a gold tub rc10. The slash has been a ton of fun for backyard racing. Ive got a slash, b44, t4 and a J82 T4. And i usually head for the slash for playin around. Try the slash out. Get some lipos and a peak charger and go have fun.

Looks like the conversion will be to us before the 1st of the new year.

SO what your saying is........you prefer electric over nitro? I could not agree more. I am not a fan of nitro but, it's not because it's not cool. It's because I am lazy.....HAHA
I will have to tell you there is nothing better in rc then running a 45min main event. 4-5 pit stops, mutiple lead changes......it's pretty killer.

Re: Traxxas Slash vs. Associated SC8

I'm going with electric for my next car, regardless of price. I'm pretty much over trying to get my Losi XXXNT tuned everytime I try to get it out to play.

If an electric SC8 is in the works, then I'll hold off on getting a Slash, if not, I'll probably end up getting a Slash sometime after Christmas

Great thread though, I'm also between the 2
