Absolutely! Bitting said they were thinking 1,000 cans from each class and I was just saying you can count on our team to be involved in whatever way we can. If every racer and chaser from every team sorted through the dark, dusty corners of their pantry and even put in a few extra bucks to buy some cans I don't think it would be too hard to get 1,000 cans from 7sx. Trophy Truck however, different story.......I don't know if those guys can pull it off. I know for a fact Stock Full won't be able to do it.

A strong recommended consideration is to buy the food products in Mexico for four reasons. 1) It will build their economy by making your purchase there
2) You will not be stopped at the boarder and have to pay tax on it and spend 4-6 hours with the broker filling out itemized forms
3) If you buy the products there, it will help Baja in two ways (at the retail level and at the donation level) : repeat of #1
4) It will be easier to manage with all the stuff you bring down .... who has the extra room for 3-4 pallets of food to take the distance. (Not me)
Something to consider.

I would like to say that the kids side of this Baja Charity Run is awesome. Nick Baldwin and the AOK gang have put so much time and money into improving the lives and well being of these baja kids, its really something else. Along with numerous others that have donated their time and money, its truley commendable what all have done.
As for the racing side of the charity run, It really saddens me that there were more people that had major contributions to the whole racing aspect of this event that did not get mentioned at all and or very little at the Forester Mansion event and this thread. Lee Patten for contributing his Class 1 car and Bronco prerunner, the heart of the racing side of the Baja Charity Run. Chris Paulsen & Nelson Stewart from C&R Racing for a huge money contribution and upgrading the cooling system on the race vehicle. Justin Hultquist, Ruben Arzate, John Evans & Andy Petersen from Speed Unlimited for the countless donated hours of labor for prep/repair to get the car ready and tested for this race. Speed Unlimited crew and friends that donated their time to go to Mexico and handle the chase efforts for the race and prerunning. There were alot of names that seemed to slip through the cracks when it came time for recognition... they dont have a huge corporate name like monster or alpinestar...but they are the people that put their race vehicle on the line for the cause. The people in the pits that make the race possible...the guys behind the scenes...

Yes, you are absolutely right and these folks are one of the most organized teams I have ever been associated with. Don't forget the Herzog crew (Ryan, Paul, Ron, Ray etc.), Lee Patten's household for the hospitality for team meetings and pre-race festivities and Greg Adler for all of the support. I know there is more that have been left off the list and I am sorry. The additional pit support and the additional chase support that I never had the opportunity to meet. Not to mention the families that supported the teams efforts while they were spending the long hours doing what they love. Your team is amazing. Thank you.

On behalf of myself, Chris Paulsen, Nelson Stewart and Jim Riley....
The fact is that whomever posted this response is not only correct, but has a valid point as well. It is, for me, sometimes difficult to separate the Charity Run portion with the actual racing portion of our effort, which I have to appologize for. I can tell you that the Ruben, Justin, John and Andy, along with Lee Patten and the rest of the #126 Wahoo's Class 1 car did a tremendous job in getting the car ready to race, along with contributing lots of time and energy toward all the "show" portions of that the Charity Run demanded outside of the normal racing things.
I have had the opportunity to do alot of work with the Speed Unlimited crew (the Dirt Sports Retro Bronco among others) and the fact is that they are a highly talented, highly motivated crew. I know that Lee Patten himself was recognized by Velocity Magazine for his contributions, but he wasn't able to make it that night and I would have loved to have him recognized on behalf of the entire team.
So, with my hat in hand, I offer an apology to all the guys mentioned in this post and we offer our sincere thanks. I have yet to have raced with a car and group that was more professional and prepared. Thanks guys.
