    RCI Circle track fuel cell, yea or no?

    I'm in the need of a fuel cell for my Toyota, and I see a lot of people running these on their prerunner trucks. Good or bad idea? I looked in my book and I don't see any reason it wouldn't pass SCORE tech. I'd like an off-road specific cell but this seems to be half the price.

    Actually I dont think that fuel cell will pass Score or BITD rules. The cell in the attachment above was a steel can with a poly tank enclosed without any form of internal baffling. (aka foam)

    Score's rules say;
    Safety fuel cells shall consist of a bladder enclosed in a smooth skinned container. The container may be constructed of 20ga. steel, .060 aluminum or .125 marlex. All fittings must be built into the skin and bonded to the skin as an integral part of the tank or mechanically sealed by an O-ring and counter ring system by either a flat joint or an O-ring. "Internal Baffling is mandatory in all fuel cells." Bladder construction shall be of nylon or Dacron woven fabric impregnated and coated with a fuel resistant elastomer.

    Physical property specs;
    Tensile strength 450lbs minimum
    Tear strength 50lbs. minimum
    Puncture test 175lbs. minimum

    These physical properties must be maintained throughout all areas of the finished bladder, including seams, joints and fittings.

    I had a Jaz fuel cell in my last pre-runner and it came with foam in it. I belive that Jegs sells Jaz.

    I can't speak with any authority about whether or not it would be SCORE tech-legal. But I can tell you that I've used RCI Fuel cells in circle track projects in the past and have nothing but good things to say about them. They are very good value for the money.

    Those fuel cells wll pass as long as you put foam in them if they did not come with it. The other rule that can be an issue with this cell is that it has to be remote filled from outside the car/truck. I think they do have fill plates in a smaller size than our 6x10 plates we use on ATL or Fuel safe cells.
