fuel cell casing
im building a full cell casing and most rull books jus state .060alu or 20ga steel. im goinng to be using .060 aluminum. but no one seems to spacific as to what type of alumimun to use. i know that most cells are made of 5051aluminum and thats what im going to use. but i would like to know what the reasoning behind that. why noy use 6061? or dose it really matter??

Any grade will work. 5x and 6x are weldable with 5x being marine stuff (corrosion resistant).
Doesn't like to be put on a brake as much as 3x.

If you talk to some of the cell companies they will tell you for cells larger than 30 or 40 gallons use .090 aluminum well at least if you want it to last more than a few trips, the .060 cracks at the seams on the larger cells. Just a suggestion though!
