You could NOT be racing at all right?
Couldn't agree more but I will tell you when I ran class 10 it was the same argument the Hondas were to fast. Toyota "Fat" wanted to limit the throotle body size on the Hondas, air cooled guys wanted more CCs, two seat guys wanted even more CCs. The air cooled and two seaters got what they asked for and now apparently it is not enough even though an air cooled won a points championship. By the way why should anyone get more power so they can have a person to change tires, read GPS, watch gauges, etc. Remember when Pro 10 lasted for one year, it was because know one could agree on anything. Alot of people say you can race class one for the price of class ten, well I will say you are dreaming.

In the old days class one had type IV motors and now have V-8s at 500 to 800hp and a class 10 is still limited to a 4 cly. If you ask me a air cooled VW should be behind a beam not A-Arms and a class 10 should be a stepping stone to class one and should have a restricted throttle body V6 to keep cost down and save the tranny. When this happens I will be in Parker in class 10.

Leave the rules alone. VW and Honda motors both have their areas where they do really well. For example a drag race. My VW will pull off the start (more Torque). The hondas will pull on the top end (more HP). My Car can do 100mph. Hutchins Im guessing 115mph. Does that bother me? Answer: No. Reason: how many times do you go over 90mph in a desert race in class 10? Answer: Not that often.

Yes I will be at Parker.

Sometimes I feel like we're playing against the Yankees......no salary cap and all the money in the world to spend, but the truth is, I love our VW....it's light, easy to prep and easy to fix. Ya we can't go as fast as the hondas/toyotas on the long fast sections, but when it gets tight, we can real em' back in and that's what keeps me pushing hard. We just have to drive and not make mistakes and quit getting flats and our VW will be right there with the rest of them...
The rules are fine the way they are.

And remember to finish first, you must first enter the race.

Well put Mikey... IMO ALL the classes are outta control cost wise and if you believe money doesn't play a factor in any of the classes your jerking your own chain... This sport costs way too much money but we're all victims of our own passion. The biggest issue is we keep allowing changes and once someone is allowed to build a better mouse trap everyone whines and more change ensues. Adding motor thus increases strain on trannies CV's, axles and costs $'s etc and so everything goes up in cost... our 10 car runs 930's and is very light and has been competitive most of the cars we've raced against if they have been faster it's becuse they had less issues and were probably better drivers, IMO only a few because they of the single fact that the out spent us or because of the parts and we run on a modest budget just as a number of teams do... Change creates cost which supports the builders but does nothing to limit the racers expenses. I have no issue with the playing field as it is, IMO if you can't keep up then maybe you need to scale your program back to a class that is more manageable, but if change is needed to a class; maybe instead of making all the cars faster to keep up with the guy whose got the shiney wahzoo widget maybe we should for example restrict the faster more costly motors with restritor plates. It's a case of why have the whole class incur cost when you can restrict a few people thus leveling the field. In most forms of motorsports if one motor package runs away with it or somethig has a distinct advange they restrict it not escalate costs to everyone else so they can keep up. 50%+ of the 10 cars get passed by the 12's and 50% of the 12's get passed by the 16's and so on and so fourth and bigger motors etc... will not change that fact. The driver, prep and a ton of testing and dialing make a car fast. I've always said that Rob Mac could smoke the 1600 class with an outdated non micro stub SP 16 car: Case and point is Matt Gumz and Lorenzo Rodriguez, both very fast frivers in what a lot of people would consider "dated equipment". The bottom line IMO is it's not only motor that makes a car go fast...

I in no way was picking a fight with anybody. I do however think that your statement about not taking any talent was increadibly uneducated and insulting toward all drivers. Ask ashcraft, Hutchins , Higman, Jones, Colon, Wik, etc. ect. ect. if they have to work hard to go fast? Racing is a competition sport! We here work very hard and long hours to build the best. At the end of the day your entire package has to be perfect to have a good day. It isnt just the motors. I have built 4, 10 cars this last year and all were air cooled packages. That package is still very competetive. It is just completely different than the honda. Watch CJ at BAP and tell me he doesnt work his a- off to not loose momentum or speed in all those hard, rutted out turns. He has the confidence in that car to drive a little further and a little faster into every situation. 1 second + 1 second + 1 second+ 1 second= alot of time at the end of the day. An engine will only push a car as fast as physics will let that car go. Races arnt won on graded roads. Give us a call. I would love to build you a faster car!

    Still missing the point.
I could care less about your cars. Answer the question. Same Kreger 10 cars. One with a Honda and the other with an air-cool. What is the power to weight ratio on each car? Do you think the car with 50+HP has an advantage?

You keep patting your drivers on the back about what great drivers they are. Good for them. Give any average driver a 50 HP advantage over 250 miles and the average off-road driver will win. If Keger car drivers are so talented then they won't have a problem giving air-cooled inexperienced drivers another 200cc's for 2 seats.

Good point: Why would anyone knowingly build an overweight car from any fabricator if you planned to run a light aircooled motor'd vehicle? Maybe one of the issues is the cars are getting too fat for the motor combo's people are using, it all starts with an intellegent approach to the class...
