Improvements
Given this year's performance of the Hummer, what components do you think Robby should focus on upgrading/improving for next year's Dakar? One of the main ones I think should be the transmission, although, not being an expert on transmissions, I'm not sure if its possible to improve really that much on a transmission. Also, knowing most likely the Dakar will be back in South America next year, should he try to lower the shocks/ride height a bit to give a better balance to compete on the more WRC-style stages? Also not sure how much more weight he can shave off; maybe make the tubing/frame of a lighter material, or just include even more carbon fiber overall? I'm definitely no expert on the construction or how big off-road vehicles work, so this is just me thinking off the top of my head. Although 3rd place on this year's edition is just amazing, to get to 1st next year, he'll probably need to improve on the Hummer a bit more(Or hope VW doesn't return, as I've heard in a rumor).

Re: Improvements
Based on how well Gordon did this year, it wouldn't suprise me if the ASO make modifications to the current rules for his class. Robby might find himself trying to make decent hp with the LS7 using a restrictor the size of a drinking straw.
Caution! Tony T. said I could be dangerous.

Porsche has already curbed Audi's racing program, so far only two races for the new R15, Sebring and Le Mans, no LMS and no ALMS participation. VW could be next.

I would be interested in knowing what you think is wrong with the Himmmmbugy tranny.

Re: Improvements
I would say improve on whatever went wrong. The transmission lost the clutch, the power steering bracket broke, and put a dust shield around the throttle linkage.

Pretty much what crazyeye said. Is there a way to prevent losing the clutch? Again I'm no expert on this mechanical stuff; just wondering.

Re: Improvements
rg said on the dakar site that he'll come back with more power and that the four flat tires were un-acceptable. a new toyo design in the works? i'm not sure how many flats vw had with bfg, but i don't recall hearing about any, other than miller when he nailed something really hard. i'm sure re-engineering in a few areas will take place and alot more testing will be the order of the day. the interview read like he sounded bummed out a bit, but more determined than ever. imagine that. gas on

Re: Improvements
The older Mitsus had an external clutch, I don't know about the new ones, it could be changed easily on course. I forget who, but either Alphand or Peterhansel did it one year.

Didn't he lose it when he got stuck in a river bed, or on some type of rock?
