Trans ?
Question to pro-lite racers. What manual trans is the best choice. G-force? If so what model do you run? Thanks Jim

Re: Trans ?
Jim,
There are ~4 different clutches being used in current Pro-Lites. Gold Star single disk, Tilton 7.25" Metallic single disk, Tilton 5.5" Carbon-Carbon dual disk, and QuarterMaster 5.5" Carbon dual disk. The multi disk clutches have a longer life, but transfer more shock than the single disk set-ups.

Re: Trans ?
Thanks for the info. Are there plenty of gear ratios available.

Re: Trans ?
Call bubba at g force transmission ,gears depend on what rear ratio you are running. They can fax you a ratio sheet

Re: Trans ?
You can also try Liberty....same as a GForce but easier to deal with from what I've heard.

Re: Trans ?
Both Liberty's and G-Force have gear charts on their websites. They have hundreds of gears for each transmission. Liberty's has different tooth profiles/ ratio charts depending on the application. G-Force has one ratio chart. Any gearing between about 3.2:1 and 1:1 can be done in both boxes.
Pro-Lites tend to run a 4th gear with some additional reduction to help get the effective final drive ratio above what can be done safely with a 1:1 high gear... Older Pro-Lite's have a steeper ring and pinion and less underdrive in the transmission...
I just rebuilt another racer's G-Force that had around a 2.3:1 first gear and a 1.25:1 Fourth, but that was an older set-up that probably runs a ring and pinion over 6:1.
Jim, I'd be glad to give you a little insight if you choose to run a manual in your new project. I've worked with aftermarket transmissions for quite a few years. I even went to England to be trained by one of the manufacturer's... Anyhow, I think you've got the right idea!
