El Dorado sucks!
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I just heard tonight from some friends who have a house in San Felipe in one of the campos on the beach close to Pete's that the fine old farts at El Dorado have been working hard at trying to turn Mexico into Palm Springs. Apparently they pulled some strings somewhere and have gotten all motorized vehicles banned from riding or driving on the beach anywhere on the north side of San Felipe according to what my friends say. Supposedly there are signs all up and down the beach that say motorized vehicle activity is prohibited on the beach.
I don't know if this is entirely true, but what they told me is that the only authority that has juristiction (sp?) over the beach is the coast guard, I didn't even know Mexico had a coast guard, LOL. But they say it won't be patrolled by by San Felipe PD or Federalies. So if you go ride on the beach, who is going to stop you?
I will say that this is second hand information in the sense that the info came directly from my friend the home owner in SF to me, and now from me to this forum, so take it however you want. My friends are going to be talking to the police officers they know in town and the judge to find out more details on the situation.
Does anyone here have any knowledge about this?
Wasn't El Dorado also partly responsible for the cancellation of the San Felipe 250 in 2007?

If I remember correctly, the beaches are controlled by the Baja Enviromental Dept or something. They used to drive around in white and green pick up trucks. Kinda like Rangers in a state park. That was quite a while ago though.

I hope El Dorado implodes.
Seems to be a large pyramid scheme to me.

El Dorado has not ever been a friend to offroad (unless they can take your $$$). that’s all they want. i know allot of people her may say other wise. they advertise how quaint the little town of san Felipe is but they have done nothing but ruin it. there money is choking SF. its turning into a ensanada.

Re: El Dorado sucks!
i've been going down there for a long time. had my place south of town a long time. when el dorado first showed up down there, i had a real bad feeling in my gut [it was'nt from being overserved with herradura and 100 mph guacamole] about that outfit. at first my neighbors and i thought the threat would more likely be japanese big business coming in to build big resort type hotels and try to make sf more like mazatlan or pueto vallarta. nope. el dorado came in and started making their own set of rules. i really dislike their methods and their stong arm design. now when i go down, i try hard not to pay attention to what's been happening to what was once my favorite place to be in the world. i hit town. get what i need and head south. in hind site, i should have built my place alot further south than i did. but it's only a matter of time before another el dorado or an outfit like it will ruin the whole east coast of northern baja. it's the money and folks increasing appetite to "get away from it all". i remember well what the west coast used to look like from tj to ensenada. now, it is'nt quite the same. f--k progress.

Re: El Dorado sucks!
Doesn't surprise me at all. I have been waiting for something like this to come up. Just all the real estate signs driving into town are crazy! Just great the eco-nazis from Cali are taking over San Felipe too! BTW we stayed at el dorado ranch last year and except for being so far out of town it was awesome.

El Dorado Ranch rocks!
I would be more worried about the group of local citizens that want all atvs and dirt bikes banned from the town of san felipe (they are getting backing from retiered americans not El Dorado). Motorized transportation has allways been banned from the beachs but never enforced Iam sure you will still be able to ride in front of petes camp until they put up the millon dollar homes ( that rafael is dreaming about) and there home owners start to complain.
San felipe is no longer a small fishing village, things are going to change over the next few years. I belive we are all at fault for this (so dont recommend san felipe to your friends and tell them all san felipe sucks)
As far as EL DORADO is concerned they are not perfect but do offer many things that just were not avaliable before in san felipe. Like a safe and secure envoirment, trusts and land ownership (having had property liberated from my family in a 3rd world country this gives us some security). I have not had one problem with my home in the 5 years since I built at El Dorado, I have left my wife and family for weeks on end and never worried. I have several friend that have just walked away from there homes in the south campos because of theft and problems with the owners (this saddens me greatly) some of may families best times have been in SF.

I remember seeing them when they first started at contingency too. I also had a bad feeling about them.
I hope to get my piece of land soon before tourism drives the cost up so high we can't afford hotels anymore...
Word got out about how great San Felipe and this is what happened...
