Do most cars, or trucks for that matter that are wired from scratch use a fuse box? also I am going to be rewiring my baja I am looking for a good source for swtches, fuse blocks (if needed) connectors and wires.

yes. IMHO use fuses on everything but the starter
you can easy spend a lot of money for wiring..... if your "project" is on a budget go to a Salvage yard and look for a late model wreck...
most of the late model electric systems are high grade (weather-tight sealed) with nice weather sealed underhood boxes (also perfect to keep sand/dust out ) .... if you take your time to carefully dismantle the main fuse panel, power distribution block and as much wiring and connectors as you can reach you can save yourself a lot of $$ ....Wrecking yards usually dont charge much for little stuff like that
btw Ford sealed connectors are great for reuse; the connector seals (silicon) and the individual "pins" are very easy to remove/rearrange without special tools ....
...just a idea :P

You can get really good water resistant connectors and distribution stuff from a marine hardware store. West Marine has some really nice stuff in stock and they are located everywhere.

zac get your switch,s from spruce, the ones with the built in circuit breakers saves a ton of wire and connectors and money
I think the "fuse block/circuit breaker" or "relay/not relay" debates depend on the cars intended use and what you need to accomplish through the wiring. Here was a "somewhat" street legal baja I did but on the last page of the thread is a list of the vendors I used and my experience with them, hope it helps.

www.ez-wiring.com has a pre-wired fuseblock for $185. The cool thing about it is the wire is marked every 6 inches to tell you what it is.
