I was so stoked to go this year......but i have to work. Why is it on thurs. And fri.??? Seems very odd to not have it on a weekend.

I heard that it was because Britt/Joey were getting married on Saturday in Newport :-)

It's not a spectator event. They put all their efforts into putting on the race instead of crowd control. Having spectators adds a whole new set of challenges to a promoter. There will be plenty of media coverage and due to the way the course is spread out you will see more by watching the videos, reading the magazine coverage and I think someone is doing a live feed. KOH has great videos of their events.
