LUCAS hurting reputation, customers
How many people feel what I'm feeling? I think MR Forrest Lucas is making a huge mistake. I am a huge race fan and have noticed for years how LUCAS has really stepped up for the benefit of many Racers, Race Series, Fans and alike. LUCAS OIL has done alot for motorsports and I beleive motorsports has been very good for LUCAS also. Now I am really starting to get a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak when I think LUCAS. This really isnt good to try to go head to head with the (PDG) Proffesional Drivers Group & TRAXXAS-TORC-. HOW can this be good for Off-Road racing. Yes, he is very wealth and I'm sure he deserves it but why go against the PDG/TORC?. It doesnt make sence to me and maybe he doesn't think he is hurting many people but he is, Make no mistake about it. He is putting the hurt on the whole sport of Off-Road Racing. Hopefully Forrest Lucas will reconsider and instead join forces with TORC and the PDG for the good of the sport and his reputation. 2009 can be a Banner year for Off-Road Racing when so many things in this world are looking bad and negative. Oh by the way I am a Lucas customer & fan.

I can see what your saying but you need to look at it like this. Lucas Oil wouldn't be were it is as a business today with out Forest's decisions. When it comes down to it this is a wise business decision on his part and if he can make it fly it will make Lucas Oil corporation that much stronger. If it fails then the PDG and TORC will go on and Forest will pry sponsor TORC. I don't think any of this is bad for off road racing at all. Blu-ray and HD dvd just went threw the same thing, may the strong series survive and the racers will get the best series in the end. The series that is run with a well though out plan and not just a toy for some rich guy who likes to be in charge will be the series that gives NASCAR a run for its money. My dad is a huge NASCAR fan and even he says NASCAR is losing its appeal, I see no reason why short course off road racing can't take its spot. Honestly if a series is ran well and has a good car count it should be up there with the likes of NASCAR and NHRA by 2015, if its run correctly.

look, I just dont see it that way. PDG & Ricky Johnson had just started putting there series TORC together and this distraction is just complicating things. Mr Vanillo started I think after the first of the year, There was no reason to start another series. I dont understand his reasoning. The TRAXXAS series will be the series to race but all this negativety and going a differant direction at this time without giving TORC and the PDG a chance to show what they can put together is Very Bad for the sport. If Forrest was to join with TORC and maybe sponsor the TV or the tracks Jumbo-tron's Forrest could be a hero and keep his reputation of supporting the sport. That would be huge for the Fans as well as the series and drivers. Thats just my thoughts looking at it as a fan.

it the best for everyone in this sport
one name one series
look at indy car it has taken them tiil this past year to start to recover
the mid west and all of the nation needs to be united under onee name
think if nascar had several diferant series?
im good with it
it just means everyone will have to travel deal with it
How do you like me now?

MAjor issue there is the travel. Sponsor money is tight so to take an extra 3-4 days to drive back east or come west would eliminate a alot of the racers.

Short time line...
CORR cancels last races of the year,-- Ricky stars his own race with 3 races,-- Tony Vanillo wants to start a FULL series (10-12 races. He started way before the first of the year) Tony laid out all his dates to not conflict with anything (including Ricky). Tony moves ahead & picks up Lucas as title sponsor, then Speed/Bullydog.--- Ricky wants more so HE then goes east to try & group together with them, thats when alot of this started... Drivers unhappy because 13 hrs of Speed TV wasn't enough (spoiled last year in CORR w/NBC) so a group is formed & sponsors brought in to listen to it all. Now Lucas becomes owners of Tony's series allowing it to become that much better.
WSOOR already had Lucas as sponsor with some TV. Ricky joins up.. name changes (are the old sponsor contracts tossed out ?) Now Traxxas in...??
Whole point was to start a series where CORR left so many people hanging. When this all started the only other large races were going to be Ricky's 3. And those weren't going to keep all racers & sponsors on the west coast happy. The west coast needed somewhere to race..
some of that was rambling but who cares...Lol

I think Tony became a shortcourse promoter the day he was let go from CORR..I think that was around the second to the last week of November 2008 right after they cancelled the last race of the year.

You are ether misinformed or absolutely clueless! this has to be the worst thread of the year! Right, The People at Lucas wake up every day trying to figure out new ways to screw there customers, Racers, Race promoters and Race fans. And I'm sure the Folks at North American Were probably thinking the same thing's when they put it all on line to start a race series from Scratch!

Wow!! Excuse me, I wont start name calling. I think everyone will decide who is clueless here. I never said anyone got up looking to screw things up. I think Mr LUCAS and MR Vanillo had bad timing and probably some frustrations. I still think its going to hurt LUCAS sales and bigger yet their image of being a supporter and helping the sport of motorsports. Now that Forrest has decided to be a owner of the west coast series and compete against the TORC series. He has became to many now as the apponent. MR Lucas is turning his back on all the fans and Teams running and pulling for the TORC series. I dont think any of them will be as likely to purchase LUCAS products or even think the same way as before this latest move. I am not saying anything bad about LUCAS products as they are a great product. Please Forrest, do the right thing here. Lets get behind the Teams of PDR and TORC to unite OFF-ROAD Racing.
