Another fun race to shoot in Plaster City. It seems that there are some true converters to the DRIVE races. Many of the regular race teams were no shows. Everything was going great, Archibald was running a great leader's show, Robert in the 800 was muscling his weight up and down the track with authority, the 5's were rolling so smoothly that it was great to see many of them completing laps knowing that the first 18 miles was the ruffest part of the race. Ron was having a good race and Ish was coming around eagerly trying to finish a race. Catlin was in the 16 car and won. Congrats Catlin. Congrats to all winners and finishers.

A new race-photographer is born. My brother-in-law "Fish" took almost 1500 pictures while I shot video. We were able to shoot from 4 diferent locations then around 1 pm we had a flat tire around race mile 17. Took the spare off the tail gate with the lug wrench that came with the car (used) with no probs. When it came to taking the lugs of the flat, the wrench was too small. Diddn't have a big enough socket either. A couple of people stopped but no one had the right size lug wrench or socket. Don who was driving his green jeep cherokee and was rover #76 stopped by and had a 1 1/8 and 1 1/16 sockets and between the the two one was to big and the other was to small. He tried to locate lrg mtric sockets 32-33 but had no luck. Later someone who checked on a conversion chart stated on the radio that a the standard 1 1/8 and the 1 1/6 were 26 and 27 metrics. Then Don had to leave cause there was a vehicle broken down on the track and had to go help them out. Don returned around 4:30 and we tried everything we could think of and no go. Don then had to leave for the end of the race meeting to confirm all issues that I always find out that result in protests, penalties and dq's.

Then around 5 pm my brother-in-law "Fish", who worked at Big-O in El Centro until it closed grabbed the lug wrench and started to force it around the lugs by beating it with a crescent wrench around the sockets. He was able to loosen them but every time he took one off he had to beat the side of the lugwrnch to make the lugnuts come out of it. We finally got back on the road around 5:30 and headed back to start finish hoping to buy a t-shirt but Tina was done and ws getting ready to leave.

Other than my issue with a stupid lug wrench the race was a very good one. This was my brother-in-laws first race and he can't wait til the next one. First thing I am doing is going out and buying the proper lug wrench. Will post pics and video soon.
