Need Help with Trophy Lite Kart, that a handycap person can drive...
Hi guy im new here, an have some questions...
First off im handycap (a C4-5 Quadrapaligic), i have the use of my right arm, an 50% of my left arm, i cant move my fingers or wrists, and am parolized from my chest down...
I can drive my dodge caravan cus its been moddiffied for me to drive, it has a JOYSTICK / SERVO System i use to drive... Heres some pics...http://www.cardomain.com/ride/484602/5

The front seat come right out and i can drive my wheelchair right in till my chair locks in then i go driveing..
For a while ive been wanting to build/buy/mod, a go-kart for me to drive..
Anyway last week i found out about these Trophy Karts and im hooked and want to get one to play around with and go rideing with my cusins mx bikes & quads.
I am about 5'6" an 140-150lbs, and i want to buy a Trophy Kart that has some good power, im thinking of geting the TK ELITE with a kx250f motor, and buy a Rekluse Z-Start Clutch, an also was going to buy a Pingel auto electric shifter, because i cant use a clutch or shifter since im handycap...
but before i go speending money how fast is the Subaru 265cc CVT vs the KX250F.
What size ATV/Quad would be = to a TK with a Subaru 265cc motor?
Same for the TK Elite with a Kx250f, what size quad would it be = too?
Also im going to need to put a Joystick/servo system in it, does anyone know anything about servos, or how to make my own joystick controls? Or know someone who mite beable to help me?

ALSO CAN I MODD the Subaru 265cc motor & MODD the CVT so it can be almost as fast as a kx250f motor ?
Or is it a kiddy motor?

I think you would have better luck modifying a utv than a TK. The necessary controls and equipment you would need to make this happen would be difficult to package properly in a really small vehicle like a trophy kart.

Can i ban pdailey?
Re: Need Help with Trophy Lite Kart, that a handycap person can drive...
This will be very easy to do. I have several handicapped friends that race karts. You will need to switch the steering wheel to handlebars, foot throttle to twist throttle and foot brake to hand brake. Just a matter of getting the right parts and re routing the cables for brakes and throttle. If he is planning on im not sure if the 250s and 450s are CVT or 4 speeds but my buddy that races karts has an air shifter thats mounted on the left side of the bars that is a push button type. Pm me if you have any other questions or need help sourcing these parts.
He or she will have plenty of fun with the stock subaru motor.

OOOOOHHH. I apologize. Didnt read.Sorry. Not sure on anyone that makes a joystick system. Maybe check with the manufacture that your using right now and see if they make something more compact to fit in the confines of a race car.

My .02, buy/build what you want out of a UTV like a Yamaha Rhino or Polaris RZR.
Roomier, more space for your steering gear.
Roomier, easier to get yourself in and out of.
More charging system for your steering gear.
More stable so someone wont have to follow you around and put you back on your wheels when you roll, and you will roll a TK faster than a UTV.
Ability to go more places with a UTV vs a TK due to the fact a UTV has 4 wheel drive.
Still small enough for a trailer.
Extra seat to have someone ride with you if you like.
I dont know if you know who Chris Blais is but due to a high speed desert crash on his dirt bike his situation is much like yours. He bought RZR to race with everyone at M4SX here in SoCal and does well enough he bought better suspension and is now looking for more power.
Also, I built home made hand controls so one of my buddys can come out and drive my Rhino when we go camping.
My .02 anyway, good luck with what ever you do and leep us informed.

That looks cool, and would have more space...hmmm....
The big reason i liked the TK is we have lots of narrow trails around were i live, and a spot called the PITS, mostly quads an dirtbikes use use the trails but ive seen a small sandrail on them a few times...
I live in Hudson (pasco county) Florida, and there isnt many people with TK's/rhinos/ sandrails/UTV's,
40% have MX Bikes
30% have Quads
25% have Mudding Trucks
5% makes up the UTV's etc.
5 miles from my house theres a place we call the East Road Pits, its like 150+ acres, a theres a few dunes/ hills, trails, whoops, and a mud pit.. Now its mostly sand, but MX Bikes can ride on it with out paddel tires, so any thing can ride through it without getting stuck(except a few dummies who try an drive there STOCK s10 trucks, an ford rangers)...lol , also 30miles from my house is a OFFROAD park called Croom, its in brooksville an its hugh maybee 700-1000+acers, lots of jumps, hundreds of whoops, 25-50+ trails, sand, clay, dirt, its a awsom place...
Anyway, i wont be buying the TK or UTV, for about another year(2 years Max).
First i want to buy a joystick hand controls setup, then once i have everything for me to drive, ill go an buy a TK or UTV.
BlueCoyote told me Nestor is working on a few new projects an said one of them may work out for me, and said "once I have the OK to talk about it I can tell you more".
Im hopeing its a bigger TK..
Anyway i have time to pickout what i like more...
My dad is a bodyman, an can weld really good, hes welded rollcages in dragsters, so we can modd something for me, to make it easyier too get me in an out of.. like make the top side of the rollcage swivel or unbolt..
OR
Make are own Kart, or modd one..
Im looking to go around 60-75mph Max., an can get to30+mph fast,( not like a 10hp briggs motor with a cvt on offroad go-kart, it takes like 5secs to hit 12-15mph
)
Can ride on, over, or jump mx jumps.
Something thats not tall, and isnt top heavy.
I race rc cars and really would like to make a UTV-truggy.. That looks like a 1/8th scale buggy/truggy, thats why i like the TK so much too..
i wish someone made something like this but in 1/2 scale size...

You might check with XMOTORCR on here.
I think his Revolt is modified, he posted here in the Glen Helen thread http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/sho...7&postcount=59

and i don't think a trophy kart is a good choices JUST because it is hard enough to get in my revolt
heres a pic of my hand control
hand control pic i also added power steering and a door to get in
