    Re: Sealed 7200 class

I think this thread brings up that interesting topic: what are the v6 options in this revived class? What are their advantages/disadvantages and cost? (Perhaps, this needs its own thread)

-4.5L Ford v6 - a lot of hp, but a lot of money.
-4.3L GM - many parts interchangeable with the SBC, decent hp potential, decent but not overly-ridiculous investment.

Toyota is lagging in the hp/parts department unless you have a lot of $. However, how's the durability, if ran closer to stock form in lighter vehicles? Thinking 5vz 3.4, or even the newer 4.0?

What 6 cylinder options, if any, can run near stock form, and hold up? The trucks can now be much lighter with the open rules, allowing lower hp motors to be at least slightly more competitive.

Are creative options are there? It'd be nice to have a v6 equivalent of the 3rd gen GM small blocks when it comes to doing something more cost-effectively(I didn't say cheap). It's nice to have the option of getting a junkyard lq9 block, and running different heads to get a really good hp/difficulty to $ ratio.
What I learned from watching movies: When your plan for domination is foiled by a little runt, and you can't kill him... start clapping, tell him that he's "passed the test", and start making up reasons why he should join your side.

    Re: Sealed 7200 class

I have a stock 4.3 2004 Balance Shaft EFI in the truck now ($1200 with 12k on it.) I've been building a Bowtie 4.3, odd fire, aluminum match ported heads, gm ported intake, gm distributor, titanium valve-train motor but it is getting finished as funds are available...

I know I could stay with the junk yard motor but I thought it would be wise to go with a oddfire crank and build up from there but it seems hard to find a stopping point with the motor... and finding compatible parts have been near impossible.

    Re: Sealed 7200 class

Big motors dont win 7200...consistency does. Giordano in a bone stock toyota motor for half season then bone stock 4liter ford(which quit at V2R costing him the championship) got him a 2nd place championship against 500hp V6 busch motors. Had the stock ford not took a dump at V2R he would have walked away with the championship easily. Its not all about motor. 180hp to the wheels can get the job done.

    Re: Sealed 7200 class

To many truck classes, there should only be 2, open and limited. It is ridicules to have so many that kills entries. I have nothing against trucks or anybody that races one but it seams like every day a new class comes up. Wouldn'T it make better sence to combine some of the classes to swell entry numbers?? Before there was only class 7, then 7s not happy yet, 74x4 the stock mini, then stock full, oh I forgot, 7sx then 1450 1400? then class 6 now class 2, trophy lite I am sure I have missed 6 or 7 truck classes. It sucks, because people have hard earned money in all of these, but entries seam very small in most or almost non existent. How in the world do classes make it in to organazations like Score, then 1 single truck shows up. Just wondering

... yes and no... i wasn't complaining i was actually interested in getting peoples opinion because from everybody that we talked to they were also unhappy, i was just standing behind a friend and trying to get peoples opinion instead of a bunch of people in a pissing match (you know how that goes around here..) but you are right i was a part of that tread, it's a limited class to begin with. theres a difference between trying to limit an unlimited class, and spec a limited class ..

That is exactly what we helped put together in VORRA this year, we sponsored the new class called "Group T" where the 7200 trucks, Class 8 trucks, 1450 trucks and Protrucks are all lumped together and mixed up to race in one group for one victory. All the classes are evenly matched rule wise.
