I actually thought about setting up a large mouth or peacock bass tank,but they are so boring to watch. They just hover in one spot and wait to get fed. Plus,Bass are such mean bastards,you can't mix anything with them once they mature. Once the 1100 tank grows out a little bit,I want to throw a couple of blue grill into it and see how they hang with the cichlids. I have a feeling that the blue's will probably beat the crap out of everyone or just claim half the tank.

Update: Got the overflow box done and tested. This is going to be the breeding ground for all the Bio Media I love so much. Once I get it cycled and get some good poo growing in it,I will probably chuck in a bunch of gold fish and ghost shrimp to keep it going intill it gets plumb into the rest of the setup.

I helped a friend build something similar a few years ago. He put in a half a dozen tanks sectioned off for his turtle collection. We weren't dealing with the amount of water that you are, but he too used up most of a 2000sf basement.

I just got a 60 gallon tank for free, I cleaned it last night.. going to get some live sand and live rocks and get my Eco-System started
