    Re: RDC fish

Well, I mad a little bit of progress on the tank. I got the glass panes in and man, those things were heavy. They are 30x72x3/4 and I didn't have suction cups to carry them. Just some good friend and nice, cold beer. I had a friend of a friend install them since he worked for a glass company for years and was looking for some extra work. Thank god I had him do it, because he did it in a way I never thought of. Plus, he used a special type of silicon and adhesive that is non-toxic. The poor guy and his buddy sat on their knees for 2 1/2 hours and hand carved a channel into the plexy glass to get a perfect fit. I tried to pay them alot more then what he was asking, but he wouldn't have it. So I gave them a case of beer and told them they are welcome to come down fishing at anytime. They said that was better then any amount of money. You got to love Midwest people. It's not always about the money.

So Okay, the glass is in.

So I started to build the UGJ (underground jet) So I could fill the tank and test for leaks and pump problems. The point of these is to keep crap from setteling on the bottom. Plus Cichlids love strong current.

After I started to mock the UGJ up and run the flow lines behind the tank. My wife with all her wisdom said " How do you plan on putting a window in that wall with all that stuff behind there?" See, we bought 25 acers with a 60 year old home on it. We tore the whole house down, but kept they orginal basement and refinish the outside of it. I'm kind of regretting that now,but that saved us about 45k not having to pour a new one. So before I lay anymore plumbing I half to break down what I already have and put a window in this basement wall here.

This is the reason I decided to stay in Indiana and give up all the things I loved in Cali! I now deal with humid weather, every type of bug that chews, bites, drills and burrows it's way into you skin. Brutally cold weather, Tornadoes, floods and ice storms. 45min one way if you forget to pick up something at lowes.

I won't have much of an update intill I get the window installed. So, to be continued,

I see alot of people talking about there tanks and setup's. Lets see some pics!

It's actually Hardy plank that looks like cedar. Living in the woods is so hard on materials I wanted something a little more durable.

Thank you very much! The wildlife is out of hand during the spring and fall. Everything is in breeding mode right now except deer. I'm going to half to plant a food plot for the deer, because they love to mow down on spring flowers and dig up the bulbs in the winter.
I've said it a million times. If anyone from RDC is traveling through these parts or has to work a trade show in INDY. You are more then welcome to hang out at my place for as long as you need.

This one's for you dan200. I received my wild caught (F1) group of Metriaclima Msobo deeps a few week ago. (1male,7females) I stuck them in My holding tank and the male didn't waste a minute "getting busy" He colored up in about a two weeks then did work son. Anywho, I got a pretty dominate female who let the girls know who's man that is. She is now known as loaf!

Me and the wife are thinking about moving to Idaho along the snake river somewhere. Too many laws and taxes in CA anymore.
