    930 cv bolt torque?

does anyone know what the proper torque on 930 cv bolts are? Also I have the type of boots that go over the cv so there is grease everywhere all over the bolts and in the threads. Whats the best way to keep the grease out of the threads? Does it matter? should I use loctite?

    Thanks,

    Damien

Torque them to 50 with red loctite. No grease on the threads. Also, make sure there's no grease between the face of the CV and the flange. Yep.....easier said than done...

Put the CV's on dry and grease them with a needle gun until the grease is squirting out from the backside. Been doing it like this with the "Overboots" like you have for years. Never once had a CV come loose and I do not tie wire the bolts

Scott's torque values and Red loctite are spot on as well

Thanks for the help. What type of grease do people recomend, and howm much should I use?

What do you mean by grease coming out of the backside? Could you explain more.

Get a 3/8" drive impact socket for torquing the bolts. Keeps you from rounding off the bolts and having sockets splitting. I use Vibra-tite in the threads instead of loctite. You can re-torque the bolts with this and still have full locking.Paint the bolts first before you start greasing the cv's. It needs to dry for 10-15 min. Also re-use your bolts as long as possible. New bolts take a stretch. After you have used them and re-torqued them once they won't stretch and come loose. To keep grease out of the holes just tape off the faces of the cv's first then install the boots on the axles followed by the cv's. Then I like the NEO grease in the caulking gun tubes. Inject grease in the axle side first till it comes out on the flange side. Then fill the flange side. Peel the tape and install. The first time I use new bolts I torque to 45 lbs and drive 5 miles. Then re-torque to 50 lbs.

Neo grease is the best we have come across we sometimes use belray if we cant get neo in australia but the belray tends to dry out after one race but they get cleaned and inspected every race anyway. Biggest thing is to keep faces super clean and then torque up. We dont use loc tite or tie wire we just torque the 934s up to 90flb and they dont come loose.

Is the vibratite a loctite prodct or something else???? it sounds like some good s@#t we went away from loctite on cv bolts for the fact you couldnt check them without redoing the loctite.

Here's an article on it that explains it in detail. We've used it for years with great success. I don't know if anyone sells it in Aus.
