Mint Recovery Guys - THANKS!!!
To all of those guys that volunteered their time and vehicles doing recovery - THANKS SO MUCH!!! I was in the Petfinder.com class 11 and you pulled us off a hill and I know you helped a whole bunch of other people all night long. SNORE did a hell of a job having people in the right spots and the Weatherman did a hell of a job organizing the efforts. Thanks so much guys for your efforts!!!

Weatherman makes the routine of listening to recovery communications more interesting. At B@P the Relay referred to Recovery 1, 2 etc. Weatherman at the Mint 400 had recovery with “handles” like Rubicon and Dark Sunshine. I think I heard several promises of future favors Jamie collected for her efforts all day.

I was one of the recovery people what a day my day ended shortly after 11:20pm with a 1 inch hole to the radiator. My duramax dually was a blast doing recovery the course was brutal at one point we had two behind us on straps and a 1450 in front trying to push him down and out of harms way till we could get back to him.

A Totally great day, my truck got burried to the axels on the sand hill(before ck 8) trying to pull a cl 11. Other than that it was another exelent day in the dez.

thanks to the Slime guys for hooking her up so she could keep on pulling people out of the silt!!

I have to thank my cohorts, Matt from ProAm and his girl, Heather, for hanging in there with me in Lucy doing retrieval... that was THE craziest shiat i've ever seen! I am still coughing up silt today... and i have banished Lucy from the driveway
... i shudder to think about unloading it - there is more silt inside the truck than outside, by far hahaha! The wrap job Racin' Dirty did on her is still intact, even with folding both fenders in and getting branch racing stripes down the sides
A little wax and I think it'll be good as new
We pull up around RM 6 ish to a 1450 truck stuck in the silt and the Jacinto Class 1 that had kissed from behind in the dust, also stuck in the silt... I get out of the truck and hear PSSSSSSSSSSS...I'm like, what the heck is THAT sound
(praying it was one of the other vehicles LOL) I look at the right front tire and see a very unfriendly stick about 6" in length, at least 1/2" in diameter sticking out of the sidewall
I'm thinking great, i have no spare.. hmmm... so as i'm pondering this, the driver of the 1450 truck asks if i can pull him out before it goes flat LOL!!!! So i wiggle the stick around and Matt duct tapes it so it isn't leaking quite as bad, and pull both vehicles out... My daughter and her boyfriend hear my situation over the WM and call and say they have plugs. Off to Check 1 I go and there was a chase team there who saved the day (can't remember what team - sorry guys, not intentional) and who had some Slime
, a jack that would reach Lucy's diff and nitrogen... Four plugs and a bottle of Slime and we were back in Biz! Thank you to the Medic in main who sent along the plug kit - i took it with me juuuust in case
.. I don't know who you are, but let me know and I'll get it back to you... Note to self: sticks can double as tire shanks
!
I do believe Heather has the pictures of the weekend of TT #68's, um, situation we found them in
. I have never in all of the races i've worked seen anything like that predicament! Matt, if you're reading this, get those posted up - they are incredible!
And lastly, #1188 - those guys got the E-ticket ride for sure! Bet you didn't know your class 11 could climb steep rocky ridges did ya LOL!!! I felt so bad for them being behind me on a strap... the silt was so bad i couldn't see them back there - I couldn't even see past my tailgate, but they hung tough for about 4 miles of that and went everywhere i drug them hahaha... and they were kind enough to let me unhook them so I could pull Gary Messer out of an ill-placed tree
TO ALL THAT DID RETRIEVAL THAT DAY... A HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU ALL!!!! I know what you all went through and am proud to have worked with you all on race day - even though we weren't in the same area...
