I knid of let the cat out of the bag earlier...
I have aquired the 1980's truck of Bill Howard/Richard Mann. It was built by Walker Evans racing in the early 1980's. It has been owned by Chris Gray for the last decade or so. He raced it at VORRA races several years ago. In 1997 ish I did some work on it, i.e. 3" Sway a Way shocks, 2.0 bump shocks and added some tubes to the interior alond with some various little things. Chris was very good about keeping it as it raced when Bill Howard raced it. The truck is in extremely good shape.
The truck was given to me by Roger Gray (cousin to Chris)as a token of his appreciation from a previous arrangement. The truck does need a few minor things one to it to prepare it for the Vintage races. When I get to it I will start a thread about the process.
Due to previous plans I will not make this years event. I do intend to race it in next years events and will plan for them once a scedule it released.
For those of you who are wondering... the new class 8 should be making an appearence in 2010 as well.

there is another class 8 being resurrected for the norra 1000. dave westhem just bought dog eater motorsports "red dog" and is restoring it for the race. i just love the vintage trucks and it's great to see some of them coming back to life and not all hacked up.

I always loved the Bill Howard truck with the Walker Evans stripes. I had a chance to buy an old prerunner, early 80's style chevy about a year ago but didn't, i wish i would have. The lines are classic on the old Chevy step sides.

Heres some heavy metal for you all. This trucks been in the family since 1988. Originally built by Randy Fortune for Joe MacPherson in i think 1980. Joe had this truck built for Jeff his son who used it for a few years as a pre runner when he was still racing in the dirt. My dad got it and it's been in the family ever since. I did a nice face lift over a period of 7 years witch included Engine rebuild, new rear alluminum bed floor, fuel cell and paint and body work. And a little more, but not much. The truck is killer, goes anywhere and has never been trailered anywhere. Photos are from Baja, Luecerne, and Superstition between 2007 and 2009

i think at this point they will take whatever they can get. i heard they only have about 25 entries, now there are some heavy hitters in those 25 but that is still probably not as many as they would like.
