There are only a certain amount of ways to make a trailing arm, as time goes on and the idea behind solidworks finds its way into the science begind offroad "race cars" you will see key components taking on a certain form from the simple idea of weight, strength, and now the ability for small companies to be able analyze what they do. If somebody wants to go so far as to call it copying im sure you could make the argument that camburg has coppied from time to time. If Camburg wants to say they have never coppied anything ever, then I will be the first to call them a liar. I enjoy looking at all these companies and ideas, spd trucks have a great front end, i love there lower arms...........

you should make your own thread about "copied" or "similar" products im sure you would have a lot of fun. we didnt try and copy anyone and they arent identical, im a big fan of camburg, ive been using there products for years and Scott is always very helpful. AS far as the links go our press breaks, doubler plates, and lengths are different and our are built out of .190, .090, .125, and 1 3/4'' 4130 and TIG welded. and yes im going to try to sell them, why not, i do have an off-road fab shop, with a whopping 3 products in our product line!!! enough of this drama, this sites not called dezertspace. back to MY TRUCK, updates soon.....

I also am weary of this subject. If your design/product is not locked up in patents and copyrights, you have no legal rights. You can piss and moan all you want when people copy or imitate your product, but it only makes you look bad. The minute you show your design or product in public, it is no longer protected. The first one you sell is subject to reverse engineering by any competitor. I do think it is morally wrong to make an exact copy of someone else's product, if it is made for sale. That is profiting from their design efforts, but again, it is not illegal. A product that looks similar, but not an exact copy, is imitation, and imitation is 'the sincerest form of flattery'. This sport and industry would not be where it is if not for people imitating and building upon the work of others, both past and present.

theres also only so many different things you can do to change a design when its for a production vehicle like a ford chevy or toyota. Now yeah obviously if someone builds a TT and then some copies a TT then yeah you can start complaining. Just my .02

Please call me a liar... Show me what we copied....

The problem with what I am seeing is that people will just flat out take a look we came up with and call it theirs. Is this talent? Where is the creativity? I see many different shops making products with there own look and design, now that is tallent.
To me these links look pretty much exactly the same. Yes I see the compliment because someone wanted our parts but just built them them selves they must really like our parts. But when they start selling them as there product after a lot of time and effort went into the design that is stealing plain and simple. You can bash all you want and try and justify it all you want but to me it is lame when people do this and it is happening to much these days. Where is the creativity in individual designs?

so your saying theres no talent? have you seen the front end on my truck?? built that with my sheer, press break, grinder, and some hole saws. i think it came out pretty damn good, i think unmatched... so far. we havnt even cut out a set of the trailing arms yet so settle down everyone, the trailing arm police has spoken!! i started this forum just to show off my build, not to be called a copycat. Jerry you guys build a wide variety of amazing parts, were werent trying to copy we just drew up what we liked and what we knew worked from previous trailing arms. enough of this bs lets all step away from the computer and go build some s!@# like tyler7 said lets focus on the build. and ive used camburg before and loved it 18.5travel...
