Re: chevy single cab, complete build
Excellent, great to see another bowtie! My only advice is plan on it taking longer than 3-5 months. More like 3-5 years!

Wow scott... that's scary how similar our builds are. haha. Other than the year, it's basically the same build. Your truck looks really sick! It came out really clean.

Thanks! Its similar, but I have the stock frame rails per class 8 rules. You can do whatever you want, so I would cut out the firewall and move the engine back.

Looks like a great start. Your tube placement looks a lot more thought out then the previous set up.

Yeah, the firewall is gunna be nix'd sometime next week. As far as the engine goes, I'm gunna start from the rear forward as far as placement goes. I want the transmission to end about 3-5 inches from where the top links connect. I don't want to have any, or have as little as possible, driveshaft plunge between strapped and bumped. So if the trans is back that far, the engine will probably end up being in the middle/front of the cab. The center of gravity will hopefully be as centered and as low as possible. Dry sump, eh? I'll see if I want to spend another $3k

Thanks man. I've spent a lot of time just drawing stuff out or imagining it in my head. Good planning = less time over all for the build

Re: chevy single cab, complete build
I was told that you can have a complete tube chassis as long as a chunk of the original frame is mounted somewhere in the truck, also you would want current reg on the 75 frame so you wont have to do a CHP inspection. I know someone that the DMV tried to resurrect the VIN #s from the cab instead of using the year and VIN of the frame
