N.o.r.r.s scam
Looks like norrs stuck it to the midwest racers last weekend. The guaranteed payback wasn't so guaranteed. Watch out if they come out west!!!

The midwest sportsman group did a wonderful job running this event by ourselves proving that we can be a stand alone group and dont need big promoters that just lie and break promises anyways. Other than that the event was great and a lot of fun was had.
WHAT????? are you %ucking kidding me???? maybe if most of the offroad community states what a bunch of flakes some organazation is........someone would say, hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm, lets check these guys out BEFORE we buy into their bull#hit stories.......sorry , but it your guys own fault, you were WARNED..........
THE (above)comment is why I negative repped you!!! Your smarta$$ comment at the expense of the midwest racers! SO DONT TRY AND MAKE THIS INTO SOMETHING IT WASNT!! Once again, you werent there,, you DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT PETER!!!! Also, yes, I was there for the entire weekend,, I was there for the MIDWEST RACERS and was SUPPORTING THEM NOT NORRS!!!!! Next time ask or maybe talk to some "REAL" racers that were in attendance and find out what went down before you do your typical routine of mouthing off!

Re: N.o.r.r.s scam
Like Scott, I was there supporting the Midwest Sportsman Racer. Basically Scott ran the show. Aaron ran the scoring on top of the Grandstands. I realize Scott was linked to NORRS as an announcer, but whatever the capacity, without Scott I doubt the race would have come off. He ran the driver's meeting, lined up the racers, helped with the track prep, and was everyone's "go to" guy throughout the weekend.
When it came to getting paid, he just stated what NORRS always stated, the payout for those that pre-entered would get paid an hour after the festivities.
There were a lot of other racers, crew members, and fans that volunteered to keep the show running, and on time!
Thanks goes out as well to Dan Vanden Heuvel for manning the hose on the Weyauwega Fire Department truck.
Cheyne did a great job announcing and interviewing the podium finishers.
The payout was the problem. I know some racers got paid, but it wasn't what was originally stated.
The next question is, will any money get mailed to the racers that didn't stick around for their money?
I knew of Aaron's miscues, I even brought my concerns up in another forum, but the reply was that NORRS had the money and why are you trying to downplay this race?
(If TORC or LORRS could not offer this kind of payback, how could NORRS?)
Regardless of my own concerns, Phil's Inc. got behind the Weyauwega race offered a contingency plan and got behind the Midwest racers.
Ultimately, racers showed up in great numbers, nearly 100 drivers (including the mechanics race), the racing went off without any real problems, the payout was the problem.
Another lesson learned.
Regardless the racing was really great to watch, the track was unique. The layout and the multiple soil conditions really offered challenges that racers hadn't seen in quite a while.
Sometime soon I'll have some video posted, because this is really a great facility to hold an off-road race.
(Besides some of the best white bass fishing in the world, every spring, is just 10 minutes down the road (a note to Federico))
I just hope that the fairgrounds people don't have such a bad taste with this event (Aaron seemed to leave without getting the property back to it its original condition) that they won't allow a legitimate off-road promoter to put on another race.
I just what to see short course off-road racing continue for a long long time. I love the sport and everyone should have an affordable place to race.
Right now nobody can prepare for the 2010 season.
See you in Vegas.

Re: N.o.r.r.s scam
Racer 2121 - I think Scott and I did look at the situation.
Yes we knew of the miscues.
I believed that renting a facility in Central Wisconsin is a whole lot cheaper than Antelope Valley or any other property in Southern California.
NORRS had a Midwest Racer working with them to get a better understanding what the racers were looking for and what kind of facility is required.
NORRS also had a group of racers looking to get one more weekend of racing in for the season. The other series had cut their season down to ten rounds (5 weekends). Just a few years ago , they were accustomed to running fourteen rounds ( 7 weekends).
The weather didn't cooperate it unseasonably cold, so spectators didn't show up. NORRS/Aaron was not honest with the racers about how the payback was to be funded.
He needed to fill the stands to meet his posted payout. Of course, that didn't happen.
I continue to post because I am very upset how the weekend ended, especially after the racer turnout and the great racing the few of us experienced.
It was what short course off-road racing was 25 years ago. Fun, everyone worked together to get the races off on time, volunteering, everyone camping out, and the tension that you feel in the pit area of a PRO race wasn't there.
It was the first time for many to experience this type of setting.
It was a great time..... until 6pm on Sunday.

I was going to buy a NORRS t-shirt or hat and wear it a Speedworld this weekend, but I assumed I wouldn't ever get it if I ordered it from NORRS.com

Re: N.o.r.r.s scam
I got a message from someone who was there helping out that Arron split out of town first thing this morning without taking care of the water, Fire Dept. and the EMT's and a couple of other loose ends. OUCH! So much for the Bad news.
The good news is I'll bet that with volunteer base that is in the Midwest and the racers that are looking to get some races in between the larger TORC races. That a series like the M4SX Races we have out here on the west coast will pop up with some decent folks running it.
