Anybody running either off-road? I hear they are about 75 lbs heavier than an LS engine.
And tips or hop up results out there?
Thanks in advance.

"No good deed goes unpunished"
Thats funny i just got off the phone with todd@ dfr and we are going to go test drive a 4 seater pre runner he had built with a danzio built lq9 stroaked to 440 pushing 800 hp . I will let you know how it goes
ive got the lq4 im putting in my truck, gonna do cam and tune and turnkey harness and thats about it for now i believe. but ya lstech has tons of info
both are solid motors and don't need much tinkering (none) to get decent horsepower. It also depends what it goes in. I saw one in a buggy (3000lb maybe) and it would shred and spin the tires with barely any throttle.
I have LQ9 with Magnacharger. Been told that the LQ4 has better compression for the charger. I am not happy with the hp to the wheels. It has been back to Turn Key 7 times. 1100 miles. Call Danzio.
A good mod for the LQs are to get a good set of L92 heads, L92 or LS3 intake manifold (LS3 mani is a low profile car style manifold),mild cam and a 90mm TB, It would have great power, in the high 4-500 range. L92 comes from the Escalade.
Here is some info.
The LQ4 6.0 truck motor from 1999 and 2000 had iron heads.
The LQ4 6.0 truck motor from 2001 to 2002/03 had aluminum heads.
The LQ9 6.0 truck motor from 2002/03 had aluminum heads.
At some point during the 02/03 model year they made the transition to the LQ9 motor,,,but the aluminum head from the previous year LQ4 stayed the same. Biggest change between the 2 are compression ratio with LQ4 having 9.41:1 and the LQ9 having 10.08:1.
01/03 LQ4 aluminum head casting number 12562317
02/03 LQ9 aluminum head casting number 12572035 (some books also list 12572317)
They both have the same combustion chamber size of 71.06 cc's
Both have the same intake port volume of 210 cc's
Both have the same exhaust port volume of 75 cc's
Good article about the L92 heads.
