88 Bronco
I just got a 1988 bronco w/ a 351 and C6 tranny. I have read through some of the 5.8l post but they are all talking about way more then I want to do to it. I don't want to really do anything to the long block, just bolt on parts.
One thing is I don't have to worry about smog and want to know what I can just pull off the motor without adverse effects. I just want to hear what others out there would do since this is my first time working with a 351.
It is going to be used to tow and chase so I want good power but very reliable.

Re: 88 Bronco
I havent installed this stuff yet but I will anyday now. Everything listed will be smog legal too and super reliable.
Edelbrock EFI intake manifold
BBK 60mm throttle body
Ford Motorsports Mass Airfow Conversion (more aggesive tuning)
Bassani equal length headers
Bassani hi-flo y-pipe with a single hi-flo cat
Ford Motorsports 9mm plug wires
After I get that stuff on I'm going to install these
Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads
Crane cam
Roller rockers
MSD ignition
Then after that ....
Bore and stroke it to a 427,add new injectors and recalibrate the ECM for the new found displacement

Re: 88 Bronco
Scott,
Let me know how it runs after you get your stage 1 mods done. I think thats about as far as I want to go for now.
And where did you get your headers?
Thanks,

Don't get the eldelbrock headers. They crack on all the welds.
What comes with the Mas air conversion? New computer I hope. The stock speed density systems really don't like to be monkeyed with.

Re: 88 Bronco
I got the headers from Bassani direct. You can also get them through www.truckperformance.com
The mass airflow conversion kit comes with a new computer, mass airflow meter, wiring harness, and the necessary ducts and airbox adaptors to get it to fit. Whats nice about the mass air conversion is that the ECM is for the AOD tranny so putting in a C6 is even easier. If you have an E40D tranny the Ford motorsports version won't work. PRO-M makes a conversion that will work with that tranny though.
