Re: Time delay 12 V relay....
If all you want to do is turn on/off your fans why not go with a "thermoswitch" with a manual over-ride, basically as SPAL recommends them to be wired. I understand you say "you dont trust them..." but you'll have more "trust" in installing a controller not designed for that application..... Copy That Gustavo

Hook it up with a thermostatic switch through the ignition switch so the engine will get up to running temp like it is supposed to be. The heater in the cold weather will work better also. If you are worried hook up a toggle switch also and turn it on in the ruff stuff but then it will be running all the time. You can put the same12 volts to the motor more than once.

Re: Time delay 12 V relay....
I have to agree with the other guys on the thermostat switch. One of the problems with electronic timers is that if the power is turned off for even a second, the timer starts over. In other words, your fan would be off for 5 minutes even though the engine is hot.
I know what your thinking about the thermostat switch. Parts that you don't have, can't break. The timer has about 10 electronic parts and a mechanical relay. The thermostat switch is usually just a bi-metal contact. I personally have more faith in the thermostat.
Like I said though, if you want a timer, I would be more than happy to build one for you.

Re: Time delay 12 V relay....
You might not like the time delay on a real hot summer day. If you shut off the motor and restart it will not have fan air for some time. Depends how critical it is to your cooling. Im thinking of things like Simpsons hill and some traffic.
Oops repost of Co Dogs point. I should have read through first.
