    G'day Ned!

Looks like you got yourself a great race down there. So, if a Yank fella who lives in the UK and races a big ole monster Hummer H1 wanted to come and race, ya think I could get in?? My motor is too big by your rules (6.2 liter supercharged diesel) and the truck is built for amature rally racing in Africa so may not be built to your local rules. The Hall's got an exception for the Finke, think I might get one for your race?

And, where on earth would I ship the truck to? Looks like Perth is closest shipping port. It would take a lot of talkin to get Herself to approve but you never know...
    Cheers from over here, Cole

    Re: Desert Racing Down Under

This is one awesome event, everything from the street parade to the atmosphere at the bar and the finish at the racecourse in town, it is very unique and very cool.

All the rules for racing in Australia can be found on the CAMS website (www.cams.com.au)
basically there are several buggy classes, pro class being the one which allows up to 6L engines or 3.5L turboed, several truck classes 2wd (including trophy trucks) and 4wd classes, so assuming you fit somewhere amongst these rules there shouldnt really be too many issues bringing a car over for this, especially since there are several cars that have been brought over from America to race at other Australian races under the same rules.

I believe that there is a TrophyLite series coming to Australia next year but does not include this race, however Im sure you could convince some involved with TL Australia to rent a car for this event.

If you are looking at bringing a car over here I would suggest talking to the Robinsons from Outerbounds racing, they raced a the BAJA 1000 a few years ago in a class one which they brought back to Perth so they should be able to point you in the right direction. (Im pretty sure they are members of RDC as well)

Here is a video I made of this years event

We have a Finke who races in the desert. You have a race in a desert named Finke.

Nice videos - thanks for sharing. It seems Western Australia is custom made for desert racing. Too bad the distance keeps us from racing in each other's series. Keep posting videos.
