Re: ECOTEC engines to be allowed in class 1000

I will be swaping to an ecotec and getting back into class 10 or class 4 eventually this year but for now I am driving for Ed Beard at Parker with an AG Fat motor going for a another win. Class 10 is only dying because people think it is more cost effective to go to class 1 which it might be if you dont plan on being in the top 3 or 4 in SCORE or BITD but you will have a lot of fun in the smaller venues. I allso find it amazing that BTID did not have some sort of vote or ballot with only the car owners of class 10 and the same goes for TORC in the light truck class. I realy think both class could of opened up to any 4 cylider stock production motor sold to the general public and put limeters on the Toys and Hondas. Any ways should be interesting to see what happens this year.

Who is planning on entering a class 4 in class 1000 at Parker, anyone considering running the entire BITD season with a class 4 in class 1000.

I can't believe this thread went on this long with no mention of allowing the 2.5 Subaru turbo motor..........300 hp on pump gas for 8 to 9 grand..........

Now I've gone and ruined EVERYTHING! Ha.

Time to shower and head to Pabs for the big end of the year DA Wing Ding!!!!!!

Cheater you could build a turbo subie 6 cylinder that puts out 800 hp, cost under 20K, and weighs under 300 pounds, throw it in a TT..................Now we're really messing with things!

    Just playing...........Happy New Year everyone!

Why don't they have a V-8 class for Beam cars?????

    Okay, seriously......I'm just funning!
    Good Grief

I know peter you would take a win anyway you could get it but I am not in the same boat.
The reason I am voiceing my opinion here is I was going to build a class 10 car but have changed my mind.
so its YOUR responsibility to make sure all your fellow classmates have competitive equipment??????? you are really reaching now........

    Ron,
The story line tentativly started with some interest from Score class 4 racers to compete in BITD class 1000 while maintaining class 4 engine rules. Casey contacted current class 1000 racers for veiwpoints and then engine builders, Next he contacted several engine suppliers of the Ecotech. Turnkey agreed to provide the tech inspectors at each and every BITD event. So why would BITD amend their class 1000 to allow Score's class 4 to compete in their series? Primarily I would guess for finacial and political reasons, BITD has stated many times they feel only Score is their real competition. 2009 BITD points summary has somthing like only 3 teams competing in all 5 races, 2 team's competed in 3 of the 5 races, 11 teams competed in 2 of the 5 races and 6 made 1 race.
Are class 10 / 1000 car counts really down or are they competing in multiple series from a entry / travel expense situation?
If you are serious about getting back into class 10 this year I'm pretty sure I can get a hold of a single seat Jimco, you handle the engine and trans and I'll provide the management / wiring etc. You drive and I get any of the winnings.

Why do you care if Ecotecs run...if not from a purely economic standpoint?

What makes you so sure you would beat this motor, and don't you think Class 1 guys would run a stock motor if it was competitive such as a stock LS7 and some do with success. If you can run just as quick for less money it makes sense and honestly its not like your Robby Gordon or Andy McMillin.

BTW, at 5,000 to 7,000 rpm the Ecotec behaves very much like a high dollar race motor due to the variable valve timing!

    Well said !!!!
Im sure that those who do financially benefit from the old class 1000 rules are going to be pissed , I would too ! , but I think the big picture is a whole lot brighter , casey was right , class 1000 is dwindling fast ! I really believe some of you 10 guys will be very impressed with the performance of the 2.4 ecotec
