Diesel powered trucks now need SMOG in California!!!!!!

As per AB 1488 all diesel powered vehicles in the state of California that are under 14,000 GVWR will be subjected to smog testing.

Looks like someone is going to make alot of money fitting the new catilitic exhaust systems to all those light weight trucks. Hey you know this could be a way you all in CA can save the automakers by taking the $1000 to retire you old ones and buy new trucks. If all 800,000 owners did that the US taxpayers could get back alot of that bailout money. Please buy only Dodge and GM trucks!

What a Joke! Thanks California for screwing over more of your tax payers. California might say they care about smog, but that is not there first priority. They are just looking for one more way to bring in income.

Re: Diesel needing SMOG in California

I have an '03 Ford 7.3 that is a "non-catalytic" diesel. I have no ems add-ons so I got only one gripe....I have to pay some bu(($het fee for a service that is going to provide very little (if any) meaningful impact on the air quality.

As far as buying a Dodge or GM, they made their bed, let' em sleep in it. I ain't gonna live long enough to get see any of that buy out money.

And yeah; this is in the wrong spot.

Actually, it will have zero impact on the air quality. The first 2 years of the program are just to gather data on if there is an impact.........
