    Re: Old shortcourse offroad pictures

Did anyone notice the '75,'76 Chev Malibu 4x4 in one of the earlier photos. Was that only available back in the Mid-east?

Those pictures are awesome. I love the Jeepster too, and the old Scout II. Best looking truck for racing though, I would choose the Jeep J10. Always liked the Budweiser, Roger Mears? desert truck. That's the first picture I remember seeing after my dad came back from the '81 Mint 400. So, my first race truck was a red J10, black cage and white lettering.

Love the Formula Desert Dog tires too. Those tires are hard to find but they are still popular for some people where we race here. Along with the Goodyear Terra tires that use that same pattern. Lots of people still use those as well. I have a mint pair if someone is interested.

If I remember correctly. One of the first times Chuck went to Riverside with the Bronco, he performed a huge endo, and a photo of it was in the LA Times sports section.

This was taken just before the Champ race at the DuQuoin Illinois State Fairgrounds.
We need to make a push to get a couple of these guys into the Off Road Hall of Fame. Warren, Probst, and your dad. Warren being the original "iron man of the the Midwest" with one of the best win records anywhere. Your dad was influential in a number of ways, both as one of the few dedicated off road businesses in the Midwest and for his organizational support. Probst was involved for years as a driver and engine builder.

    Re: Old shortcourse offroad pictures

Before there were a real points series east of the rockies, Warren and Probst were true barnstormers, racing each other as well as the competition from Wisconsin, Florida, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, and probably a few other states. If one didn't win, the other probably did.

Both guys had a real impact on Kevin, Jeff, and myself when we were old enough to get behind the wheel.

Reusche (my dad) made sure the racing kept going and was the creator of the North Central Points Series as well being instrumental during the initial years of SODA. In the 70's Sal Fish appointed him the Eastern Director of SCORE. (Oh yeah, Phil was a pretty good builder, driver, dad, and mentor for myself as well.)
