San Juanico Cantina Closed
i don't know how many people know this but the Cantina at the scorpion bay campgrounds in San Juanico, BCS is closed. the govt. closed them down for whatever reason. they might be open for the NORRA race, Baja Mil and they might not. camping is still a go but you better be prepared to cook. there are two tacos stands in town open for dinner and they are pretty darn good but if you want 3 meals a day be ready to fend for yourself.
When in doubt, paddle out.

i'm not taking sides. i've seen many known off-roaders in that place, Bob Gordon, the Herbsts, Malcolm Smith etc. and i know off-roaders rely on the place for food and shade on their way up and down the peninsula.
When in doubt, paddle out.

It's my understanding that their is more to that story... the group of people who bought the land want to develop it... there is something like 15 or 20 parcels there (
). I know it seems crazy. There was a massive fence around the place in October and people weren't being allowed anywhere near it. They got so much crap from the local residents, that the fence was removed.
BTW... the pizza place is open two or three nights a week and ROCKS. He's a real italian guy, who must have gotten tired of tacos!! Keep an eye open for Cynthia or Cal in the yellow buggy!! Tell them Ken says hi if you see them!!
I sure HOPE both races go through there, so I can have a quality pit... and Cynthia's tuna bites!!

Re: San Juanico Cantina Closed
I guess my joke had bad timing & was made in bad taste (no pun intended!). I've been to the Cantina quite a few times as do alot of my friends who make the Scorpion Bay surf trip a few times a year. The food was always great, especially the brunches to cure a modern hangover.

que onda Jake. i got an update from the new manager:
We are currently only serving meals to our guests that are staying at the resort. If you know how many people in your party, we can serve you both breakfast and dinner (and drinks). Our palapas are open for reservations. Let me know when you are coming and approximately how many people.
