It is $2,150 dollars to leave the line at San Felipe
Wow.
Ya I know... another rant... yadda yadda yadda... if you don't like it, don't do it...
BUT... I really WANT to race San Felipe, it's always been my favorite!
There comes a point, however, where you have to ask whether 1 day of going fast is worth it... especially when you consider that nobody else may show up in my class!! Most contingency companies won't pay if you don't have at least 3 in class. Man this is sounding pointless!!!
Shelling out over 2 grand... just to leave the line???? Oh God, I'm whining now. Maybe I'll just pick another weekend... show up, run the course, pat myself on the back, and not have to worry about hitting a spectator like I did last year.
Holy crap, I'm getting smarter by the minute!!
Here is the breakdown:
entry: 850
insurance 450
land use 75
radio fee 25 (wtf is that?)
points fund 50
membership x 2 150
annual cage inspection 275
IRC rental 275.
Thank goodness I have the cheesy piece of aluminum already installed, or that would be another 275!
Oh, and don't miss the March 4 deadline, or that's another 200!!!
Can I have some cheese with this rant please???
Still angry after all these years!

The IRC is the biggest ripoff in my opinion. Thing doesn't even work half the time. I can deal with the other parts though. The insurance sure is a nice comfort to have.

While I understand your point and I am NOT defending SCORE, the fees are a pretty small percentage of even the most modest race effort.
I cannot fathom us ever being able to have a similar race in the U.S.

I don't race but have been involved for a while. I had a conversation with PAB a couple years ago about this. I didn't realize this at the time, but SCORE is the only race promoter that has an incredible insurace policy for their racers. You get hurt...you are flown out of Mex no questions asked (or money spent out of pocket).

$2,150 to enter San falipe
or around $600 to enter Battle at primm i think its a no brainer on this one.

The team is going to skip all the races from CODE this year to run SF 250 and maybe the 500 in a class 11.
Well, maybe we could run a pair of other races. But depends on the budget.
Why? because is score, it IS another level, and we want to try it out.
Hell, maybe we are wrong, but I will be pushing the car thru contingency maybe behind or infront of a TT in a SCORE race, and that alone i think is worht it.

Maybe SCORE can share their "insurance" program with the DEMs in Washington? Someone's making money off of this crap and it's not the racers. I say install an IRC in every tax paying US citizen's car for $275 and charge $250 for the mounting bracket. US Debt solved.

Well MAYBE when BITD, SNORE or any other promoter, puts on some legitimate races in Mexico, AND can fly you out of the country should an issue arise, THEN maybe the bashing will be justified.
Dont get me wrong, I love and support CODE, awesome local series, but when it comes to safety in Mexico, the way SCORE jumps on it, is second to none!

Re: It is $2,150 dollars to leave the line at San Felipe
I have raced Score in the past and I personal think they have out priced themselves. The only race or maybe two races that I think Score can command these prices at are the Baja 500 and for sure the Baja 1000. There are no other series out there with races like these two. But you can race with Code and get San Felipe or race with Snore and get Primm for much less.

And as far as comparing BAP to San Felipe is not even a comparison at all. Two are completely different formats. Not to take anything away from Snore, but any series if they wanted to could try to do a BAP format. No one can really duplicate the Baja 1000. The only series that has even come close to duplicating a long point to point type of race is BITD with Vegas to Reno and anyone who has done this knows its not like the Baja 1000.
