I will send the info on this thread to the Blue Ribbon Coalition... assuming I can find some contact info for them on their site. I'm sure it is there. Many of us are members... but we ALL should be. Our collective efforts (and $) are one of the best ways to fight this crap.

The source document was a meeting that Sal, Casey, Don Wall, Ken Cox, Zack Levery (sp) and many others were at with the BLM. The gist is closing racing for the months I stated in my opening paragraph, as are the reasons they are trying to close any areas used for racing in the Las Vegas BLM District. I was tipped off to this actually at the SCORE Laughlin race before this meeting happened. Key questions were asked but as usual, the BLM himmed and hawed there way through it without any answers to specific pointed questions. They couldn't tell anyone how many tortoises there are - they have no count whatsoever! Yet they can use this as justification for the closures!!! This is just a ploy to shut down racing period in the surrounding Vegas area. Combine this with the b.s. solar plants being ramrodded through and that's what's behind all of this: NO RACING is the eventual target for the BLM

Does any one remember the desert tortise habitat that used to be off of bluediamond rd , south of it actually , right @ the mountains edge area , actually the "exact" area !!!!!!!!!!! I believe blm was caught euthinizing the tortises rather than moveing them or something to that matter of fact !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Payed of by kb homes for the land to build "chaco canyon" . The desert tortise is no longer endangerd,threatend , etc! Just more blm bullstuff , better watch out faggot ranger with yur gay ass mustache, u no who u are ! Yep, that's exactly what they did!!! There were a couple thousand there, I believe... I could be off on the numbers, but I did hear about the blm euthanizing the tortoises... If only someone had proof or an Ace up their sleeve on that... this would put this whole mess to bed and the blm would not be the all-be-it power they think they are - they would become public servants as they are paid to be... I was told by the BLM in the Reno area (the Rec Planner and Head Ranger) that there is no reason the BLM down here does what they do - overcharging, over-policing, bullying, etc. The Rec Planner told me at the V2R race last year that we here in Vegas need to go to the Federal level with this - not to fight it here at the local level, as we won't get anywhere locally. The BLM here in Vegas are all environmentalists and only see "green" - dollars and trees. They are all in cahoots with eachother and if challenged, use the tactics of "if you do this to us, you won't get your race permits..." I know this first hand...
