    Chase Rack Help

I'm going to be building a couple chase racks coming up and was wondering how much releif you guys allow between the roof and the bottom of the rack.

I was going to figure a 2" gap but I thought I'd ask the experts. I dont know how much these trucks flex and I dont want to tear up the cab of the truck.

If it matters one is an '03 F350 and the other is an '06 F250

    Thanks

    Re: Chase Rack Help

I am going to make chase racks soon. My thought is to use a 2x4 as my spacer. That would give about 1 5/8" clearance.

    Re: Chase Rack Help

Here are a few pic's of some chase racks that I have done. I normally use a 2x4 for spacing between the cab and rack which is actually 1 5/8". That seems to be enough and I haven't had one rub yet.

    Re: Chase Rack Help

    Nominal size for US 2x4 is 1.5" X 3.5". I think a 1 5/8" 2 x must have been swollen. Useless info from a wood butcher.

Now what accessories do you guys add to it? I already know I'm giong to add a front light bar, side lights, e track but what are some of the other things you guys add. Shovel? Jack? Amber Light?

Yes to all. A full size shovel is something I always see missing on trucks, race or chase.
