    Class Nine single buggy

Well I'm going to do an experiment and wanted to let you guys know. I will be setting up my car for short course and racing at PAS Perris auto speedway March 20th in the single buggy class. I will have a pissed off 1600 motor, low profile tires, and be losing 100+ lbs on the car. So what do you guys think? If the car works good maybe we could race with class 9 motors agains each other.

It just hooks up to both axle tubes on the ends and cradles the trans in the middle. It's kind-a like a sway bar. It's supposed to help you pitch into corners and it sucks the whole rear end down instead of body-rolling all onto the outside wheel, but I haven't had any experience with them.

    Slang,
What else do you intend to change up for short course, other than tires i am sure, 15x5 wheels on front ?
I have never seen the camber compensator before, but would be interested in seeing how it performs or hearing from others that may have used one.

Wheels on the front and back, 28 bars to lower the ride height and still have spring, and lighter skid pan. My question with that compensator is if it will fit under my trans. I don't think I need to compensate for any thing. Isn't that like putting big tires on you truck!!

    Re: Class Nine single buggy

I have raced the a ton of short course and have found that no matter what you can't slide the car with ease unless it is muddy, because of the camber. And that camber piece would just make the inside tire raise up in the turns. I would recommend running a narrow and short tire in the front because the wider the tire the greater the bump steer and it makes it harder to control in the car in the turns without power steering. I use to run the short mini mag fronts and a 30x9.5 in the back. Also stiffer torsion bars in the back will only create more wheel hop throughout all the turns, if you run a regular bar and lower the rear and add compression and remove some rebound the rear tire will stay on the ground easier. The best thing you could do is to lower 2nd gear and that will give you alot more acceleration out of the turns. Good luck dude. Peace Forest

Cool Thanks, I don't know how much time and money I will have for this set up. I think I'll get my feet wet check out the fun factor and I think about more races down the road. Thanks for the ideas.

back in the day we ran the limit straps up to balance the rear and not let the trans leg "tuck under" and a good steering brake 60 series in the back and front and groove the piss out of them--I am in for short course---------

    Re: Class Nine single buggy

Steve, I too had thought about doing this for a while now and I think you are going to have fun. Some of Forest ideas sound like something I would do. I wouldnt change the torsion bar, doing that will mess you up big time. I would lower the preset of your bars and like G.T. said put some limit straps on it and take an inch from your droop to lessen the chance of the tires tucking and sending you on a ride. I notice that most single buggies run what looks like radial tires that have been grooved, every year I play with the idea of trying out a shorter tire at BAP but I always stick with what has been working. Good luck and have a blast.
